Desperately trying to get my GC2 out of 1 dot mode

First let me just say that I did search and did read every single post I could find on the issue. Nothing seems to help for me.

My GC2 and HMT are only showing 1 dot mode data, when all my clubs have the 4 dots.

I occasionally get club data info, but that's very rare.

Both of my HMT cameras are firing. I verified by filming in slow mo video. The top LED ring is on when the ball is in view, and the bottom fires as the club is about to hit the ball during the swing. Both rings appear bright, and all LEDs within the ring are functioning. I've also replaced the flash, thinking that could possibly be the problem.

I've tried re-loading firmware, tried elevating GC2, and also tried hitting everywhere within the hitting area, and I still can't get it to engage 4 dot mode.

My dots came from justapotamusdesigns1202 on Ebay, who has 100% positive feedback for dot sales, including dots for GC2/HMT/GC4. He's been very helpful thus far and even shipped me out a new set of dots in case somehow that was the issue, but that hasn't helped either.

Does anyone have any possible suggestion as to what could be the issue? Could it perhaps be the cable that connects GC2 to HMT?

    Any help is appreciated!!

Just to confirm, every single LED that forms the ring around both cameras is lighting up? Can you post a picture from your slo-mo video?

From what I can see, it sure seems like every single LED is lighting up. I've attached a picture.

Interestingly, I just came across some old sticker that were given to me by the original owner of the GC2 when I purchased it a year or so ago. They do not appear to be Foresight stickers, but for fun I tried them. I was able to get the club data including impact location for two swings, then not again.... Not sure what that means. Perhaps it points to the stickers, perhaps it was some fluke?

The LED rings look fully formed to me. I wonder if you’re just in a transition phase before some of them start going out.

When I troubleshooted this for my HMT, I tried everything I could think of. I played with different dots. I researched the cord. I changed my environment to eliminate interference. The only thing that fixed my HMT was replacing the LED boards.

The engineer in me wonders if swapping the LED boards around would have any impact. The top one spends way more time being on than the bottom one. Would it even matter after one has reached the point of failure? Such frustrating problem.

I have read about the LED boards (might have been your post) and feel fairly comfortable in giving this a try. I sincerely hope that this isn't the case as I'm sure Foresight in Canada would charge a pretty penny to replace them and I would be surprised if they would be willing to send me the parts without doing the work...

Might want try adding a little more light to you impact area.

Also, dots.......Cheap dots do not last long. Foresight dots are ridiculously expensive but they last.

Any issue, dots or poor lighting and all I get are one dot readings.

I typically have a projector running however was seeing if having it off would make a difference. I will definitely be trying a variety of dots before diving deeper. Unfortunately in Canada Foresight only seems to sell the dots in the dispenser for $200…

Dots placed outside the grooves last way longer. I use those same eBay ones and they don’t really go bad, even playing outdoor rounds.

Get some foresight dots to try, ring or email them and ask for dots without the dispenser, Foresight europe is the same they only advertise the dots in the dispenser but happily sold me 192 for about £46.
My HMT is the same I just don't get frequent enough 4 dot readings with any other dots apart from the official ones. Another thing to try is raise your GC2 and HMT up an inch or so you may be loosing a dot in the mat, if mine is same level as my hitting mat I only ever get 1 dot readings.

Thank you. I wasn’t sure if GC2 would see them that far out, so I will be trying this.

Thank you! I have an email in to them and am hoping they will sell separately here as well. I will also try raising the unit to see if that helps.

Might want add some light also. It is a camera based system. They need light to see.

I typically have more lights running, and a projector illuminating the space as well. I was attempting shots with everything off to ensure there were no interferences.

                        A few ideas:
The front kickstand of the GC2 is properly set the GC2 is fully open.
Make sure the HMT is properly mounted and secured.
Are you using the cable provided by Foresight to connect the HMT to the GC2?
Elevate the GC2+HMT slightly above the hitting mat. No more than 1 inch.
Try hitting from the back, middle, and front of the hitting zone
Space out the fiducials. If they are too close they can blur together
If your AOA or swing path is too extreme the HMT might not be seeing all 4 dots
In the pic, you’re wearing white shoes. Try wearing black shoes.

My kickstand is fully functional and extended, so that's not an issue. I am using the cable that I got with the GC2 and HMT, which I bought used, however it came with original boxes and all, and so I am of the assumption it is original. I am considering a replacement as a test.

I will try a slight elevation to see if that helps, and will also try spacing out the fiducials. I have tried every spot in the box including front, middle, back, and then all to the left, middle and right.

I am not willing to admit it's my swing that's the problem lol, but anything is possible and will have others test as well. As for the shoes, I had read that white shoes could be a problem and so I've tried with multiple pairs with no help.

I've also been told that Foresight changed the size of their dots at some point, and that perhaps I need the older smaller ones. Has anyone heard of that before?

One more thing to try. If you go into the GC2 menu there are HMT options and a target calibration function. If you haven't done that it might help.

Grant2145: I do see HMT calibration in the menu, however when using it, it asks me for some kind of calibration tool and I don't know what that is. Would you happen to know?
