    Putting on GC2 with TGC

How well does it work? I'm not crazy about the putting on the creative golf sim.

It works very well in my opinion! Perfect, no... Nothing is. But you'll have very few putts where you say, "What the...?!" Make sure your GC2 is aligned ok. Sounds obvious, but we seem to hear about it all the time.

The thing about putting on a GC2 is that the offline left or right (azimuth) is +/- 1.0 deg. So even if you hit a putt 100% straight it could show as much as 1 deg off line right or left. Same said that if you hit it off line 1 deg it could show straight. With that long putts are not as big of a deal but on short putts it could be and it could make an actual 1 deg off line putt now 2 deg off line so that could be enough to miss the cup.

What Protee has done to help this is in the GSX we GC2 users use. (Protee has this setting for them as well I think) There is a setting for putting that when set at "2" any put that was hit within 1.5 deg or less (might have changed now so I can't recall if it was less than 1.5 now) that putt would then register as on line and go straight. You still need to read the greens and get your speed right but this helps with the ball at least having a chance to start on line if you hit it on line. I am not sure they did anything like that in the Foresight software more less Creative Golf. That same setting beyond the #2 setting I think takes additional % off the off line and makes the putt easier but as a rule we are to use the #2 setting for on line tournament play. I find the #2 setting is the best as I do have a guy that does not like to move the aim line and would rather start his putt off line to play for the break on his own and he does it quite well. Just on short putts he then uses the aim and then tries to hit it straight.

Also any sim putting is about being able to know how hard to putt for a 8,10 or 20+ footer. At least with the GC2 readout you can see what your ball speed was for that putt and then use that info to help set up a chart of distance and get an idea of how hard you need to hit a putt on a level green. Again you still need to read the greens and factor in up and down hill putts.

I have had a couple of guys new to the sim that picked up the weight quite well if they knew a number for the putt speed they needed to reach. I tend to need to help read the greens for the first while until they got used to the grid and how to read it.

Thanks for the replies, that helps a lot. I was not aware of the GSX settings - seems like that solves the major issue with putting on the GC2. In the Creative software I just set the thing to auto-putt because I really disliked it.
