    GC2: Is my unit dead?

    Hi All

Recently purchased GC2 CPO. Today first time using it in my new sim setup. While using it the green/red light just went out and unit does not respond. I connected it to the power cable and still nothing. The screen has some random numbers. What could be the issue? I have also reached out the support, hoping the CPO warranty will cover what ever this might end up being.

Was just getting started with using my first sim setup LOL.

2 things to try before sending it back.

    1. disconnect both battery and external power supply. Let it sit for a few minutes and then reconnect the battery and external power supply if it was connected. What you are trying to do is reboot the GC2. You can't shut it off internally if the battery and/or external power supply are connected. There is really no cut off the power input switch.

    2. If you can get it to kind of restart then download and re install the GC2 firmware from the Foresight site. The level number is 4.0.0.15.

What all the above is about is trying to accomplish is refresh/reload the EEPROM operating system if it dropped a bit or two.

How do i disconnect the battery? I can't find anything about that in the manual nor do I see anything on the unit that seems removable. I did try leaving the unit alone for a some time and plugging in the charger again and it did not help.

Look on the Foresight web site for changing battery instructions or go here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udIcPiuOzKA . The battery is under the bulge at the bottom of the case. You just have to unplug the connector after you get the cover off. It's easy to do. There are just a few screws to take out and the case comes apart and allows access to the battery pack and connector.

Thanks found it. Seems pretty straightforward. I'll wait to see what support says to make sure I dont void my CPO warranty or something .

Update: this am I checked the screeen and it was completely off and the unit turned on. So I guess it did actually reboot once the battery drained completely. Should i still reflash the firmware?

I guess that also means dis connecting the battery would have probably worked.

            Update 2:

            Updated the firmware to latest.

And then started playing and the unit frooze again. May be after an hour of usage. This time I was playing with unit plugged in .

Sounds like something is overheating inside or one of the connector's is barely connecting and heating it up results in a disconnect.. Since you are CPO I'd send it back unless you feel comfortable dissembling and re-pluging the internal connectors. There have been posts previously about which connectors were causing problems but I don't remember which thread they were in..

I am certainly going to send it back, or at least thats my plan. Foresight support still has not responded to my support ticket. It's only been a few weeks since I have had the unit.
