  • GC3 won't power on

In the middle of a game today, GC3 powered off. When trying to start it back on by pressing the button in the bad, nothing happens. I do not recall what the battery status was when playing as I never really had to pay attention to it. This unit has been plugged into the outlet 99% of the time since I have received it from Foresight. I have only used it out at a range 1 time for about an hour spring of 2022.

I verified the power cable and brick are working fine. I received the unit back in December 20th, 2021 and just recently past the 1 year warranty period.

Has anyone experience the same problem and somehow resolved it at home? I have a support ticket opened with Foresight but wanted to see if there were any suggestions before creating a RMA and paying for a repair.

Currently, I have the GC3 unplugged.

Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

I have a GC3 also. Had not used it from April until December last year. Had it plugged in but turned off during that time period. Would not power up when I tried to start it in early December. Support told me there are no workarounds. Had to send the unit back for battery refurbishment/replacement. Took 5 weeks from when it left my place until I got it back. I was still under warranty, if it happens again I'm gonna crack the case open and figure out a way to fix it myself. As we all know, Foresight has a glaring customer support system at the individual level. Hope they take care of the "big guys" better than they take care of individuals.

From the serial number they knew the GC3 was out of warranty and informed me there will be a charge and if I wanted a RMA created. I did ask if they can do the repair under warranty as it died literately a little after warranty ended. Not holding my breath on them being that generous.

I'll put my experience and updates here for anyone interested in the RMA process and how much it is going to cost to repair.

So sorry to hear this. My GC3 also experienced this exact issue and I'm disappointed but not surprised to hear that it wasn't a rare occurrence. I was fortunate enough to be within the warranty period. I want to say it took almost 2 months or more to get processed and it was just to replace the battery. Really disappointing considering these units aren't that old, aren't used that much (in comparison to typical rechargeable devices), and I always turn off/unplug mine to store in a safe/temperature-controlled location. I am grateful the RMA process eventually got worked out. This should be an easy fix but I dread the day when I have to go shopping for this battery fix on my own.

Well, the very same thing happen to mine and support told me to do a battery calibration. Must not have read what I described was wrong in my message. Only way to do a battery calibration is to power the unit on first. DUH, I said it would not power on! Well, sent it back and now it is costing $530 to get it repaired! Had the unit for two years and not that many hours on the unit and it fails. Think they had an engineering problem from the beginning but hey, let's sell it anyway! NOT NOT GOOD Foresight! BTW, they are replacing the Battery and IO Board.

Sorry to hear this! With so many good LM now on the market at a fraction of the cost of a Foresight unit, they may want to take care of the customers they do have as the $650 MLM2Pro that I now own is every bit as good as the $15k GC Quad that I played on for the past 2 years. Heck, I could buy a new MLM2Pro every year for the next 10 years and still pay less than a single Foresight unit.
