I am looking at picking up a used GC Quad. The one I am looking at is in very good shape, but is 4 years old. Anyone know if there have been any major upgrades to that unit in the last 4 years? Any reason to stay away from a unit that old?

I am not aware of any major hardware changes since release though there have been several firmware upgrades. I would want to see the unit in action and ensure it is functioning properly unless you know the vendor. Be aware there is also (IIRC) a transfer fee from foresight to re-register the device to your name (not everyone does this but I do not know the pros/cons of not doing this). Ideally you are buying not only the device but the FSX license as well - again otherwise you will need to purchase an FSX license (there are other software options though few are supported by FS). Make sure to get the alignment stick, the backpack it came with and the dots dispenser if they are avail.
All said however, I have had my Quad for 3+ years and am very pleased with it - have had no issues (knock on wood) and I would not be concerned about the age - all things considered - as long as it has been properly cared for. -
Ask the seller about the battery life, balls hit and like Jason saids the fsx license and how the seller wants to transfer the license, it should be free if the seller is willing to give you his login;Comment

I got my GCQ in 2017 and have not had the slightest issue with it, ever. The thing is a tank. I don't think newer ones are any different. I would not worry about the fact that the unit is older. The other points above are good ones.Comment

There have been some hardware upgrades like Bluetooth (I think) and Wifi (newer ones can connect to 5Ghz) but otherwise I'm not aware of any either.
Speaking of which though, I'm prob gonna jinx it, but I just tried Play again for the first time in forever and I got it to work with my Quad on Wifi.
And and an FYI, mine is still going strong after 111k shots.Comment

I was trying to come to an arrangement on price on the used GC Quad and Foresight contacted me running a "special" (by special I mean it will only cost me 1 kidney instead of 2) and gave me almost $6k in trade value on my GC2 + HMT toward a new GC Quad. The reality is they just discounted the quad a bit. Net/net it's going to cost me more than getting the used one and selling my unit, but it kept me from the hassle of selling the GC2. I get a new unit for not too much more than what I was going to spend on the used GC Quad + transfer fee net of what I could sell mine for. The sold ebay listings indicate my GC2 value has dropped a fair amount in the last 12 months or so.
I hope I have as much luck with my Quad as you guys have.Comment
