  • St Andrews Old Course worth it?

Is it worth the purchase? I haven’t played it in fsx yet but was thinking about adding it since it’s on sale. I find the premium course much better than others so if it’s good I’d like to know.

It's a great course in FSX Play and everyone that comes over typically requests it. It can play very easy as well as it's wide open with massive greens. Turn off lie penalties and set pins to easy can make it great for any caliber of player.

It is a nice course for mediocre players. I am not saying that if you like it you are mediocre, but as a sim course, it plays very wide open and not overly difficult. The one exception is the bunkers, so if you aren't setup to catch flop shots and the shanks that follow when people try, maybe avoid it.

I was at St Andrews for the 150th Open. I feel like the magic of this course really doesn't translate all that well to the Sim if I am being honest.

In other news, why anybody purchases FSX courses when you can run GSPro for basically the cost of 1 course a year and get access to hundreds is beyond me. I purchased the Pebble Beach bundle, St Andrews, and 1-2 others last year when I bought my GC3 on Black Friday of 2022. I have about 20 courses total with the 10 that came with it. I switched to GSPro in January and haven't looked back. My biggest regret of my simulator experience are the courses I purchased through FSX and E6 (when I was running a skytrak). Setting money on fire is an understatement.
