  • Foresight GC2 - still relevant?

Not going to lie - I don't get on this site nearly as much as I used too. I've had my GC2 for almost 10 years now, and TGC/TGC2 for as long as they've been out. I don't play online anymore, I just play by myself or with friends. I still use my unit multiple times a week in the off season. Just popped on this site and was reading about all the different options out there now. Units I've never heard of before.

I'm still happy with my GC2 - I think it's still incredibly accurate. I don't have any lefty players - so that's not an issue. My question is, am I missing out on anything? In other words, any reason for me to upgrade/get something new?

The only thing that GC2 struggles (slightly) with compared to the newer offerings is the accuracy of HLA for short putts. Apart from that, it's still a solid unit and the accuracy and reliability is fantastic. Still tons of people using them.

It is a completely solid unit. You are not missing out at all. I would have kept mine (and HMT), but I just couldn't resist upgrading to Quad. I know I would have been completely happy though sticking with GC2/HMT.

Probably the biggest thing you might have missed is GSPro for software. I like it better the TGC 2019. FSX Play is also an improvement over FSX 2020, but they're still working out the bugs/adding features. As others have already mentioned, the GC2 still compares favorably against the new units in the sub $5k range. The BLP and GC3 are basically GC2's with limited club data, which is useful for game improvement, but probably not worth the money if you're mainly using it for recreational sim play (club data doesn't factor in sim play). As a side note, Foresight has discontinued selling GC2's but I'm not sure how that affects support for the GC2 I'm not sure that's going to be be a big deal. Those things are pretty robust and I think there are a few folks on here that can do repairs.

I have read a little about GSPro. I could always try that for a winter season - only $250 or something. Still hard to fork over any money when I have everything paid for.

Yeah, but its probably the best bang for your buck you can find software wise and worth giving a shot if you play a lot of sim golf I think they're up to over 700+ courses. The graphics and game play are excellent and they have several different practice modes. I really like the combine and they just added Operation 36, which is great for beginners and working on your game. .

I still have both of my old GC2's. I've compared it to Trackman 4, EyeXO, the GC3 and ProTee VX. The thing is bulletproof and still valid. The only two issues is having it on the floor and left and right handed. I switched to overhead but accuracy is not better. It's an unreal launch monitor.

100% recommend GSPro. I have used E6, FSX 2020 and FSX Play extensively. E6 is overpriced. FSX 2020 is very dated in terms of graphics, but it does work. FSX Play still feels like a Beta. Bugs, bugs, and more bugs, and the courses are insanely overpriced.

GSPro is where its at. 250 bucks a year for 100s of courses is very fair IMO. I wont ever go back to purchasing courses a la cart. It is basically setting money on fire. They also are constantly updating GSPro, so if a bug does pop up, it gets fixed in a hurry. Their most recent update brought a bunch of welcome features, and there is now officially support for the GC3. For about a year, we had to run a little plugin, but it worked just fine. I dont think GC2 is on their official support page, so unclear if there is a plugin for it or not. Would be very surprised if there wasnt.

GSPro honestly might merit an upgrade to a GC3 or better if you play a lot of sim rounds. If you just use it for a range, it prob doesnt matter unless you are after club data. I am still annoyed that foresight is still gatekeeping certain data points (Face to path, impact location, etc) to a $20K unit (quads and hawks). GC3 does give path data, but not face data. It's interesting because before officially supporting GC3, GSPro would give face to path numbers. Now that its supported, it no longer does. You know the data is in there, and apparently to foresight, $7500 isn't enough for it.

If money is no object, get a quad or a hawk. If it is, I honestly might give your GC2 another year or two to see what comes out. It blows me away the number of data points you get out of something like a Mevo+ compared to a GC3 that costs almost 4 times as much.

Hello, I recently purchased a used Gc2 (no Bluetooth) and would like to know how to get ball analysis though pc under windows 10 and how to get TGC2019 on it. Help much appreciated ( I previously used a Protee platform with TGC 2019 but it breakdown so I decided to choose GC2). If you can tell what software I should purchase to achieve this and what step I need to do. Thanks

Unless you already own TGC2019 or have a ton of friends on it, I'd go GSPro instead.

If you already own tgc2019, then put in a transfer request with protee. You may have to pay the hardware transfer fee, but it's not that much relatively speaking. I think around a $100 or so.

I have a Garmin R10 which love it other than light chips for some guys not reading club. Do you think it's worth upgrading to a GC2 since I have GSPRO for better reading of chipping and other features or not worth it to sell the Garmin and get the gc2 for $200-500 more? I have no experience with anything other than the R10
