GC2 + HMT suddenly not getting impact position and rarely getting date

Good morning!

After almost a year of getting all HMT data properly, I moved my sim to a new location. After the move, I got HMT data without issue for 1 round of sim golf, and then no more impact location data, followed by almost no HMT data whatsoever. It only very rarely will show club data now, but never impact location on the club face. I've tried two versions of dots which worked previously, and a new set from dots4sale, which were guaranteed to work. None of the 3 versions show ball impact, and all only very rarely will show the other club data.

I've tried re-installing the GC2 firmware, tried raising and lowering the unit, tried with a replacement flash, different lighting, and a different environment, nothing seems to be helping. I've also tried a replacement cable however could only find a 3 foot long version, which did not help either. It worked just the same as the original I have. The HMT connects fine, and the green light shows when a ball is in the hitting area, but no data is shown.

Needless to say I am quite frustrated and would love to get my data back. Worried the LED rings were perhaps the culprit, I've taken dozens of videos which show nice and bright, fully formed rings on both top and bottom HMT cams. There are also no error messages etc.

I'm sure one suggestion will be to try original Foresight dots, which I am considering, but here in Canada they charge almost $200 from my understanding and I would rather not order those only to have them not help, especially considering the two versions of dots I have worked previously, and the dots4sale ones seem to be very highly recommended.

Here is a picture of the unit firing while I was testing it elevated. I've tried everything from elevating half an inch, to 1.5 inches, which no luck.

I'm open to literally any and all suggestions here!

Edit: I phone Foresight directly and they now offer a smaller pack of dots, so I ordered some to see what that does.

I have some of Harry's original dots (I think he's the founder of dots4sale) they work but are very short-lived compared to the Foresight dots. I've been a label producer for many years and I see nothing special about the Foresight dots but they are very robust in use.

Tried a couple others but nothing preforms and lasts as long as the Foresight dots. No reason for them to cost what they do other then market pricing. AND.......They work

Your LED rings look solid, so that shouldn't be an issue. Are your no-reads on all clubs, or just certain ones, such as wedges?

The Forsight dots are on the way, so fingers crossed that actually ends up being it, but I feel like it's gotta be something else. Less robust or not, the other dots I have that used to work don't work at all now, even when installed brand new.

I get no reads on every single club now. Doesn't matter which. I won't pretend to be the best golfer, but I would typically get all data points on driver and most of my irons. Wedges not so much, but now, I get almost nothing except for the random 1 dot mode data say once every 100 shots or so.

I tried the harry dots and had the same sort of stuff happen. Let us know if the new dots help. I find after a while the dots fail as well.

I’ve been trying things with this in mind. I had stools with metal bases that could have been reflective about 10 or so feet away, so tried moving them. I’ve also been trying different shoes etc. So far nothing has helped. There’s a black curtain on my back wall, but I thought if anything that black would have helped?

When I experience this its alway then stickers. New stickers when in doubt and yes the FS stickers last longer than aftermarket ones.

Right. In excited to try the Foresight stickers, but I still find it strange that the ones I already have used to work great and now suddenly don’t.

Black can show as white under infrared depending on the material.
Wait and see what the foresight dots do for you I had similar issues with my HMT. It would work for a few days and then all of a sudden I just got no reads or 1 dot only. Since using the official dots it’s miles better and reads 4 dots most of the time now.

It's odd for sure how the dots work but once I start to get a couple of misreads, I replace and I'm back to 100% metric capture rate. This is with the Foresight stickers as well. With that said, I've only replaced 4 stickers across 14 clubs over the last 4 months and that's including 4 rounds played outdoors.

As a side-note, I've seen certain shoes cause issues with camera based launch monitors. I haven't experienced it with mine but a few buddies have had issues with pure white and/or metallic accents on their shoes causing mis-reads.

I am quite pleased to say that the Foresight dots arrived, and with them things have drastically improved. I now get all data most of the time, including impact location on clubface.

One thing I am a little embarrassed to mention as I can't believe I didn't think of this earlier, but while waiting for the dots to arrive I continued some troubleshooting. I realized both camera lenses on the HMT were in need of a good cleaning. After doing that, the previous dots I had would give me 1 dot data even with 4 dots, but that was at least am improvement. Again the Foresight dots are the way to go though. I will be sticking to these from now.

One last little thing I am hoping to get help with here is that I only seem to get all data if I take a shot with the ball in the upper left corner of the GC2's hitting area. The GC2 sits almost perfectly level with my hitting mat, and I have tried elevating it, however this leads to me losing the club data rather than improving it. Is there anything I can do to get club data to work in a wider area of the hitting box? I was considering trying to shim the unit in different corners to see if that would help? Is there anything else I can try?
