Recently acquired a GC2 unit from the club pro, I know this is a legacy product, but its still great bit of kit, so just wondered if some of these can be answered.
*****FLASH MODULES*****
Apart from paying the ridic costs (500 buckaroos) from foresight, I understand there are several ways to obtain these for a sane price.
1) There is a member of this forum called Andy (gc2flash@gmail.com.) who can sort you out a flash module, apparently some of the earlier GC2 boards require a further mod which he can do.
I have written to him to ask if this is something he is still doing. I will update this if or when I hear back.
2) There is a company in Thailand https://edl.co.th/services/flash
3) Some members have resorted to ordering the actual bulbs which can be hot swapped with a few mods. Apparently they do not last as long as a legit unit (possibly due to the mod above being required) but there are members who have been swapping the bulbs over. The bulbs are only a few
The one from Thailand makes non mention of modding the GC2 board, is that because his variant has done something different to andys, or has he simply not added that?
I quite the like the idea of option 3, when the bulbs blow, just replace it with another costing 12 bucks (shipping is a killer!)
But I would rather just find out what the original lamp was, that way, we should just be able to replace the bulb with a bit of soldering.
2) My GC2 came with a green dongle, and the Foresight Sports FR1 Components 1.300 Setup, when installed it comes with two ranges and the Brabzon, Warrwickshire.
My pro had lots of courses on it, but the computer died. Where do I get these courses from, I don't mind sending a few bucks for them, but they are apparently useless without the dongle (which I have) so it seems a bit like piracy to charge other members, but as I said I would be happy to pay a little something for any trouble of uploading them.
3) There is a mod called GSPro which appears to offer lots of courses and nice graphics for the GC2, this seems to be one of the better options out there as the foresight offerings, especially the older courses are quite basic. https://gsprogolf.com/
4) What is the use of the bluetooth on the GC2, is this to work with an app or something, if so where is the app and what is the best way to use Bluetooth functional on GC2.
I personally prefer to turn as many things off on my GC2 as the old girl has been around the cblock a bit and if something expensive goes, it will likely become a paper weight.
5) Can anything be done to take the strain off the flash module or improve the chanes of capturing the ball.
RCT balls, or providing good illumination at ground level next to the ball for example.
6) Where can I get a replacement battery from in the UK, or is there a company that will rebuild mine.
7) There is a dropbox here with some useful stuff in it...
8) What can I do to ensure that my unit stays relevant for years to come?
The metrics GC2 offer will do me fine and with something like GSPRO, the graphics and course potential is there.
9) Could I simply get around the lack of a battery working on my GC2 buy purchasing a small external power supply I can take to the range?
Any ideas which one?
I think that is all for now.
Basically, I just got this unit, know a decent amount already, but want to keep it going for years, the flash seems the Achilles heel, so that is the one I would really like to find a nice solution for.
