Changes: - Updates for Pinseeker Functionality

It’s probably me but I’m not downloading the latest update. When I do, more problems arise. I have zero confidence in Foresight’s programmers to do anything correctly. I hope this changes in the future.

I haven't had any problems. It so weird, its a case by case issue it seems. Well that and half the peopl eare just trying to promote GSPro in my opinion.

You’re correct that it is a case by case situation. It’s frustrating when people are over playing and you’re always apologizing for constantly stopping and rebooting the program. I did reinstall update 1.9.0.10 and it has worked so far. The only reason I have mainly switched to GSPro is it has, at least for me, worked very well.

I’ve reverted back to v1.8.4.2 and have been playing with minimal issues for the past two weeks. The more recent updates were full of bugs, at least for me. Foresight Support made it sound like a few of them were widespread, such as player names overwriting other players after taking a drop, re-hit, or mulligan. Another widespread issue they referenced is regarding ball dynamics when putting up a severe upslope or hitting a ball near a hill where, in both cases, the ball rockets 100+ yards, both easily recreate-able. In both cases, Support stated they were aware and it would be patched soon.

I would love to chat with someone who is on the latest version without any issues and go back and forth comparing differences. I’ve been able to recreate a handful of bugs along with Foresight Support and would be curious to see someone function properly.

Along with Siebo above, it’s extremely embarrassing when these issues creep up while playing with others, “Sorry family, after spending tens of thousands of dollars on a setup we need to reboot like we’re playing EA Sports Golf 1997”…

While I agree with TKVaughn in that I’ve seen a couple of GSPro proponents in the Foresight forums lately, I would say the vast majority of posts are in relation to FSX Play issues versus pushing another sim software. At the end of the day I think everyone just wants working software and not what appears to be an ongoing beta test.

So I downloaded and installed the latest update. Again, for whatever reason the download was not available from within the game as (I thought) it was supposed to be. Regardless it was a seamless install and while it may be my imagination, it seemed to progress much quicker than normal. The only change I can see is the Pinseeker icon available on start. I have never tried Pinseeker so I cannot really comment on the program. I played 18 on Harbour Town without any fundamental issues. The only minor issue I noticed was some very minor flickering of the screen during the flyover preview of some holes. Otherwise gameplay was flawless (unlike my golf game).

I have been paying attention to the resource requirements for each game I have been playing using the task manager performance tab. Harbour Town was pulling 43% RAM (29 of 64GB avail), CPU running at 80'ish% of avail VRAM (12-13 of 16GB avail on an RTX4080. CPU (i9-9900K) was sitting at around 15%. FSX Play was the only program running. I know that Harbour Town is one of the heaviest draw on resources but it is still one of my FSX Play favorites.

Bottom line, I had no issues with the new update.

Good to know. I wasn’t seeing the updates with the software as well on the last two versions. Actually, the FSS Download manager was erroring out if I manually went into it, might be worth a check for you too. With that said, on v1.8.4.2 I was seeing an update to 1.9.2.5 but I haven’t started the software since the new release. If I see it in game I may go that route.

If you get a chance, would you mind trying to add the maximum amount of players to a round to see if it 1) lists the players in order (you, Player 2, Player 3, etc) and 2) Removing All and adding again? This is where many found a bug in that it would list out something similar to you, Player 2, Player 2, Player 2, etc or cause other naming issues.

Not sure I understand "manually going into it". I generally just grab the download off the FSX Play web page - is this what you are referring to?

Happy to try that out. Are you playing a round or a couple of holes in between the changes or just adding and removing them?

The FSS download manager is the .exe that’s running in the background handling auto-updates. You can find it manually by following this, https://help.foresightsports.com/hc/...nload-Courses- or after launching the game, you will see it in your active programs by clicking on the lower right of your desktop.

If it’s working properly you won’t see any error message when you search. Error messages will looking similar to my screenshot.

Regarding the player names; you should be able to test pre-round or by going to your favorites list via settings and adding there. I can’t post a video here but attached are two screenshots. The first is clicking the + to add a player and the second is the bugged player, being listed as Player 11 even though it should be Player 2. There are a handful of know bugs regarding players but this is one of the easiest to test. Foresight allows a maximum of 11 players so if you wouldn’t mind trying to max it out, I’d be curious to know what happens. Possibly saving a couple to your Favorites as well.

I should say my download manager doesn't work corretly but it's ok as it doesn't affect playing. I'm old school so I keep up on updates on here or FSX webpage.

So I was playing around today with the players lists. I did not see what happened with Mulligans but I had 8 people on various tees and deleted a couple as we went, them added new ones from the favorites list. I did not notice any issues other than a mysterious "Player 11" showing up in the list every time I made a change. I set 4 players up on initial setup and there were 5 when I started the game. I could then go into settings and delete the "Player 11" and it would work fine after that. If I added a player mid round (or at the start from my favorites list) "Player 11" would show up again and need to be deleted. Really not sure what is causing that but very weird. Once 11 was deleted and no other changes made to the lineup I saw no issues. I did restart the computer multiple times (about 6 in total) and the players entered into favorites all stayed put (I could actually only add a total of 10 - plus "Player 11" who showed up every now and then in favorites).

ForesightMattyG - is this a known issue?

                    Hope this helps.

Thanks for taking to time to trouble shoot that. Much appreciated. There’s a few of weird issues with player names overlapping, duplicating, and/or not being able to enter. A bunch of comments on the Foresight Roadmap boards as well.
