To tee or not to tee.

This has probably been asked several times, but would value your input. I have a Fiberbuilt mat that I have no complaints, whatsoever. But for obvious reasons, the tight lie in the sim often produces the ball contact to be low on the club face, even heeled, despite feeling like pretty good contact. Would an amateur be best served to use a very low peg? (IE #1 Birtee)? Or should one simply simply hit off the tight lie in the sim?

I never use a tee unless I am hitting a driver. It could be where you are placing the ball in your stance.

Depends on you angle of attack. If you are a scooper then low on the face from a tight lie is the result. If you have a negative angle of attack then since the clubface is tilted forward you tend to hit it higher on the face.

I'd stick with hitting off the mat if your wrists/elbows etc. can stand it as training like this would definitely improve your green grass golf ball striking..
