I have an indoor sim with GCQuad, how are everyone filming their swings into FSX 2020? I have heard some people use swing catalyst with USB3 cameras which seems a faff (& an expensive option). I remember you use to be able to record swings on iPhones which then displayed in FSX2018 but that doesn’t appear to be available anymore🤷🏼♂️

Not quite sure what a faff is or what you mean there. I do actually use Swing Catalyst and Imaging Source cameras and you are correct, it is not the cheapest solution going but I really like the versatility of the Swing Catalyst software and the frame rates and video I can generate with purpose built cameras. Others use the Blackfly cameras with Swing Catalyst with also fantastic results.
I see you are after integration with FSX2020. One of the downfalls with FSX Play is the lack of integrated cameras like FSX2020. While initially I continued to use 2020 for this reason, with the improvements in FSX Play and with GS Pro as options, I now just run the Swing Catalyst software alongside each. Even when I did use 2020 it was not as easy to use and get information from as Swing Catalyst and the video was always a lower quality, but it is another annual subscription.
There are many (many) camera threads on this site and others. Just plop 'Swing Cameras FSX2020' in the search bar and start reading. There are many options with varied results, but again it depends on what you are after. Cheap web cams and cameras off Amazon have been made to work with 2020 as a low cost option. Enjoy.

Actually just saw this on Discord from PGA Show - looks like they are about to roll out the camera integration with FSX Play. There is reference to cameras being sold as well, though I do not have any details.

Do you happen to have a link? Curious what the specs are for the cameras.

Is that an $80 camera in a $295 "package"? Potentially taking advantage of folks like me who want a plug-n-play solution.

GullLakeMi that is what I'm wondering as well. I'm trying to compare the cameras I use now with foresight vs these.

jasonreg thanks for the link. Now trying to figure out if it's really that much of an upgrade over what I have now. Ideally for the face on camera i would like to get less shaft blur than what I have now which is this one. It looks like at 720 the foresight is 120 frames vs mine at 720 which i believe is 60 frames. Now how much shaft blur does that eliminate, I'm not sure.

There are a few threads about automatic swing recording with sub $100 cameras from Ali Express using Kinovea. I have a setup similar to the following video - but do not use the same settings as I don't really care about "freezing" the club (I have club data from the quad).
I personally find the $200 investment in video far, far greater bang for the buck than the quad.

The camera listed in the foresight package is a global shutter, where the majority of the cameras under $200 are rolling shutters. Rolling shutter is what causes club blur, the global shutter makes a bigger difference in a swing cam than fps. $295 really isn’t bad for that camera from one of the big name brands, I’m surprised it’s not $395.

Old thread, but dropping an answer that might help anyone landing here in 2026.
If you're running Foresight (GCQuad, Bushnell Launch Pro, Falcon) into GSPro now (which is pretty common these days) you'll need separate software regardless of which camera you buy, if you want GSPro data paired with your swing videos.
- SwingNerds: this is what I built (full disclosure). Free Windows app, super simple to setup (less than 5 mins), any USB camera (can even use iPhone or computer webcam if you want), auto-detects each swing in the bay and pairs the clip with the corresponding GSPro shot. Body pose tracking + AI swing analysis + video compare + drawing tools all built in. Free local-only tier; cloud sync is $5/mo.
It's also cool to keep all your swing videos and shot data in one place even if you switch between launch monitors or softwares (integrating with Pure Play, Infinite Tees, Drills Golf, OpenGolfSim, and more so you'll have one single place to store all of that data across all the different options).
On exporting to your instructor: easiest path is a one-click public share link of the swing video. No file export, no email attachment, your instructor opens it in any browser. Has full playback controls and even Body Tracking with angles throughout the swing (here's an example: https://app.swingnerds.com/share/0J9...Q?ref=bjvx387d) If you're going DIY with OBS/Kinovea, you'll be exporting MP4s and uploading them yourself.
On lighting: the practical answer for most sim bays is enough overhead LED to read clearly without overheating the room. A 120 fps color camera needs noticeably more light than a 60 fps one. If your bay is dim, monochrome cameras are 2-3x more light-sensitive and pair well with invisible IR LEDs that don't affect your projector screen. There's a longer breakdown of lighting + frame rate tradeoffs in the SwingNerds buyer's guide here: https://swingnerds.com/blog/golf-swi...s-buyers-guide as well as camera recommendations here: https://swingnerds.com/cameras
Hope that helps! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want a trial extension or anything!
