  • New Sim PC - Copying Courses

Hey - just finished building Golf Sim PC V2.0 and am wondering if I can copy the course files over from my old PC or do I need to download and re-install all the courses from scratch. I imaging FSX Play would know and set up the download automatically but it would be great just to dump them in a new file location. Also, is it as simple as logging in with FSX Live or is there something I need to do to transfer the license to the new PC?

    Thx

I should be a lot of help here because I just did the same thing.......but.......I had a heck of a time with crashes and keys that didn't work from Protee ( TGC2019). Foresight wasn't as easy as it could be either.

I did have to log out on the old PC and log back in on the new one from my LIVE account. Reused numbers from FSX2020 and PLAY. courses can be moved as a group but im not that computer savvy. I just downl9aded everything again. It took forever.

And now I have to do the log off and log back in thing again because of the software problem THEY had.

Ugh. Not the answer I was hoping for but OK.

Will ping FS and see if they have an idea.

Yes you can copy/paste the course folder. I’ve done it a few times when rebuilding the PC.

The folder you’re looking for is,
        • C:\Program Files (x86)\FSX Play\FSX Play_Data\StreamingAssets
These instructions will walk you through it,

You will need to transfer the FSX Play license to the new PC via FSX Live. Or rename the new PC the same as your old one as I’m 99% sure FSX licensing is based on the naming scheme.

If all else fails you can go to the Program x86 folder in your old computer and copy anything that has foresight in the title or any other folder that has a name pertaining to simulation to a usb stick. Usb sticks of 128 gb are under $15. You then paste all you copied to the Program x86 folder in your new computer. To run on the new computer just search around in the copied folders for the application start sections and make a shortcut to your desktop.

Disclaimer I have not done this on FSX 2020, Fsx play etc. but I have done it on FR1 and other programs.many times even between different versions of windows.

An added bonus is you now have a "hard copy" backup of the sim programs in case you have a system or memory crash.

ENadeau had the right suggestion. Foresight Sports actually came back with the same thing. I will paste all three links here for the next one searching but many thanks. The only missing piece was going into FSX Live and deactivating all the courses, then they "show up" when you open play. Click on the course and the license activates - tah dah.
