  • serial numbers on GC2

The serial number on my Gc2 1755 (I think that is right, I don't have it in front of me.) I might purchase another one. Is 91xx a fairy recent one? Did Foresight ever make one that has five numbers? The next question is, does every GC2 have bluetooth capabilities?

Thanks for your replies in advance

I can't answer the serial number question, but yes, all GC2's have Bluetooth. Serial numbers that begin with "A" are later models and compatible with Apple products. The earlier are only compatible with your computer and an Android device.

Thanks for the information. I didn't know that later models started with an A.

Nobody really knows the exact manufacturing date of GC2s based on serial numbers, but a 9000 series is on the "newer" side of manufacture. The highest I have ever seen a GC2 serial number is 14xxx. Never seen a 15000 series. I would guesstimate that a 91xx was manufactured circa 2017 or so, give or take. My old one was a 10000 series, and I am fairly positive it was made in 2018 or 2019.

I don't think the earlier GC2s have Bluetooth. Maybe below ~4xxx or so don't have Bluetooth.

          Edit: I'm wrong, they do.

Was there ever an update to the GC2 that made a newer version different/better then an older version ?

All have Bluetooth. Earlier ones were not compatable with Apple devices, however. Thus, if there is an "A" in the serial number, it can be used on an iPad or IPhone. But that is effectively useless - I have never found an Apple app that was worth a damn for the GC2.

Yep, you're right! I got a used one recently, and I thought the "A" meant Bluetooth, so I thought my SN 1,XXX did not have Bluetooth. I read through the entire manual, and it doesn't mention it at all! I just went out and searched for Bluetooth devices on my computer and...there it is! That saves me the hassle of dealing with the USB cable, so thank you!

There was some sort of board upgrade after the 7000? series that allowed a Superflash. That's basically it.

So a 91xx is still about seven years old. That is good information to know. Thank you very much.

Just to complicate things a little further there are CPO units that Foresight updated with new boards. Mine has a 3xxx serial but all new internals so works with apple devices and can take the superflash.
