  • GC3 Accuracy

    Hi Everyone

Has anyone encountered distance accuracy issues with GC3, specifically with full wedge / short irons?
Carry distance seems to come up 10 yards short against real life on full wedge shots, and all of the friends who come around have found the same issue.
9 iron is around 5 yards out and everything from 8 iron upwards is accurate.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions / comments.

Likely indoor swing syndrome. Foresight devices are incredibly accurate, especially for irons and wedges. Only thing it suffers from is the Foresight algorithm gives a boost to low spin, high speed driver shots. And to a lesser extent, 3 woods.

Are you taking the data directly off the GC3 screen? Or from FSXPlay/2020? Or GSpro? IMO, GSPro has the most accurate algorithm for all shots, and fixes the Foresight "boost" issue.

You could probably test this by going to a big open field that has 100-120 yards in length, put down a hitting mat and use a laser and a spotter when hitting your ball of choice. Just make sure a relatively calm day.

In agreement with StalefishFS3 in that both the GCQ and GC3 are pretty spot on. Like mentioned, indoor syndrome is definitely a thing but if everything feels OK, double check things like elevation within FSX Play. I would also take a peak at the unit itself and see what the barometer is set to.

Do you have the ability to bring the GC3 to an outside range for testing/troubleshooting purposes?

Another possible cause, the GC3 has barometer and the reading may be off a little by the recent weather change/incoming rain and storm. It would be helpful to adjust the altitude in the FSX 2020 or Play. But overall, it is quite accurate.

I have issues with fsx play being short because I live at high elevation (7000 feet) and it calculates things at sea level or close to it. But these numbers are accurate assuming I'm at sea level. My readout on the gc3 screen are accurate and in fsx 2020, Awesome golf, and gspro all align very closely.

Only very slight thing I notice is a slight draw bias (I'm right handed) over my uneekor qed consistently. I'm not totally sure which is more accurate and we are talking 1-5 yards of left bias on my gc3, not enough for me to question accuracy.

Likely indoor swing syndrome. Ive hit indoors for years and still am 2 or 3 mph faster when being fitted outside or hitting on a trackman outside.
