Purchased a GC2 about 6 months ago. Had worked great overall, although I did have issues with the display and needed to re-attach the ribbon cable at one point. Got that taken care of and display worked perfectly. Recently used the unit and had no issues at first. After an hour or so it was struggling to pick up some shots and eventually was missing the majority of them, almost constantly switching between a red and green light. Had not experienced anything like that with the unit so I thought that I would attempt a re-start to see if it resolved the issue. Ever since, when I turn it on all I get is a constant green light with nothing on the display.
I have attempted the following with no luck.
- Hard reset (holding the power button down for 5-10 seconds)
- Unplugging the battery to ensure a full power drain
- Checking the connections on both ends of the ribbon cable
- Turning it on with the battery removed (thought this might tell me if it's a battery issue)
- Ran the FR1 software with both Bluetooth and USB to see if it would recognize the GC2 even without the display
I'm starting to lose hope for my unit and Foresight's website says that this is typically an indication that the CPU board has failed. My attempts at researching on this website and others have not given me any other ideas.
Just to be sure before I give up on it, I was curious if anyone had any thoughts on other troubleshooting steps to attempt or any comments on experiences with sending to Foresight for repair. It seems like it might not be worth paying the registration fee ($500) and diagnostic fee ($150) and then potentially spending another $1,000 if it's a major issue like the CPU board. I'm not sure on the CPU board cost but the few references I've seen on it have indicated it would cost about that much.
