  • Problems with ball data GC2

    Hello everyone!

In 2019, I bought a used GC2. It's quite old now and has developed several issues over time (the light no longer works, and I can’t turn the speaker off).

A few weeks ago, I managed to purchase another used GC2 at a very good price as a backup unit. The unit looks fine, and everything initially appeared to be working well.

However, after testing both units side by side, I noticed that the recently purchased unit provides very different ball data. In particular, the side spin readings are consistently off, always showing a strong left bias. I’m confident that my older unit is measuring correctly. The difference in the values is quite consistent.

Is it possible to send the second unit to Foresight for calibration? Does anyone know how much that might cost?

    Cheers,
    Ivo

Did you have them sitting like that or parallel? They need to both be pointing the same way. Try facing each other. Other than that it could be it needs tilt calibration.

If the unit you are sending in is not registered to you the cost will be 500 plus whatever the repair cost is if they will still repair a GC2.

If you think the cameras are out of alignment. you could try swapping the boards from the new unit to the old. .In order to convince yourself it's the camera alignment you could screw around with shimming the new unit in all three axis to see if you can get correct readings.

This will be time consuming but possibly a decent alternative to sending Foresight $500+ plus shipping both ways.

They were sitting like that because I couldn't get both reading the same shot otherwise. I didn’t consider having them face each other, but at least the strong bias for left spin is consistently noticeable with the second unit. That’s why I got curious.

Try them facing each other so you hit over one. Then try tilt if one is still way off. Here’s the link:

Make sure it’s flat like on a pool table. This has helped with some having spin issues. Other than this it may need repair id off.
