  • Transferring Licenses of FSX2020 and FSX Play to different users

I have a buddy that had four GC Hawks and he had 4 FSX2020 and FSX Play licenses - along with a ton of golf courses. They are ALL linked to one FSX Live account.

He has sold off each of this GC Hawks - but now each of the new users would like to setup their own accounts and manager their own licenses, download courses that were part of the packages, and eventually add to their own library by buying new courses.

I have emailed Foresight support and I can't get a response. I have seen some previous posts about transfering licenses in FSX2020 .

Does anyone here know the step by step process for doing this? None of us want to pay the $1000 transfer fee.

I bought a brand new QuadMAX from Foreisight last week - which came with FSX Play / FSX 2020 / FSX Pro licences.

In 2016, I bought FSX for $2995, then paid $500 to update to 2018 a couple of years later, then $500 for FSX Play… all to use with my GC2. Although I’m in the UK, I used a friends US address as it was significantly cheaper to order in dollars than from Foresight EU.

I asked my Foresight rep if I could skip getting the FSX bundle with the QuadMAX and maybe get something else instead (putting data / some premium course bundles), but he said no as they gave me an ‘existing customer’ discount - which was effectively a trade in price for my GC2 / HMT, but they don’t take the hardware back off me.

He said he could re-issue the licence for a new user if I either sold it with my GC2 / HMT… or as a standalone sale - but it would cost the new owner £180+VAT (£216 total) as there is no ‘transfer fee’, but they’d expect the new user to take on a 1 year software support deal - which is what the £216 was for.

I have the licence codes, and you simply need to type them in after installing the software. All my courses are linked to my username along with my old licence… which is still the one I’m using.
I don’t see how they can force someone installing my new licence to take out a support contract… but when I come to sell it all, I’ll be advising the new user that they ‘may’ need to take one out. Still better than $1000 though.

I have deactivated all the licenses - but they still show up in my account as "available". When I try to use one of these licenses on the new users install. (Install the software - login using new FSX account - enter in license code). I get an error. Not sure how to get these "available" licenses into another users account.

I uninstalled all the apps from the comptuer - deleted all the foresight folders. I then reinstalled FSX2020 - and it starts by asking for my login and license key. I enter the new user login information and the "available" key from my account - and I get License Validation - then "An unexpected error has occurred"

Are you manually typing in the license key or copying and pasting it? I think I remember seeing that error and I had to manually type in the key all uppercase for it to work.

Are you deactivating them on the FSX Live site?

My ‘new’ licence has never been installed on any account, so should be simple for a new user to simply install and activate.

Correct - I am deactivating them from the online website. They then stay in the account and show as "Available".

Good morning. I have purchased 2 used Foresight devices which came with FSX software. The process for transferring of licenses to new owner (me) was fairly simple.
You will need to contact Foresight tech support, via phone call was easiest, you can have them call you back so no long wait times.
Foresight can look up who the previous owner of the software and will send an email to them, verifying you purchased the device from them and they are transferring the software over to you.
Make sure the previous owner responds to the email and you are good to go. The software will need to be deactivated by the original owner, as stated in previous messages.
No transfer fees of software or devices. You always have the option to pay the device transfer fee, but not mandatory. Since I had a bushnell launch pro, they waived the transfer fee for me, doesn't hurt to ask if a previous owner of any foresight product.
Foresight has always been super helpful with answering any questions about the transferring device and or software (via phone, email response time can be super slow) Hope this helps.

I was on the phone to Foresight this morning about another issue, and asked about this.
As long as my new 'owner' is in the UK too, my licence would be transferred FOC. All I need to do is contact Foresight and tell them the new users FSX Live ID so that they can transfer the licences onto them. Happy days!

Update: I had submitted tickets with Foresight and it was taking a day for each response to get a reply. So I called the support and had them call me back as soon as it was my turn. Within about 20-30 minutes I got a call back. The process was very easy. You will need the original owner (even of they changed the contact name and login to your own new email) - to email them telling them they have sold you the system and to release the licenses.

I was able to write and email to the previous order and CC the support ticket. When the owner replied to all stating it was ok to transfer. - it only took about an hour or so for everything to be done. I am all set now.

No transfer fees. Was very easy.

                Thanks for everyone's tips.

Do you have the contact person that helped you still? I just sold my fully unlocked gc3 and the person isn't able to activate the license key. It gives them an error. When I called customer support they told me no they can't just release a license and that I have to pay the transfer fee and when I mentioned Id sold a gc2 with fsx 2020 I never had to pay a fee and multiple others have done the same thing the tech rep essentially called me a liar and that that isn't possible. This is crazy can't believe a company would require you to pay a fee to sell a product you've fully purchased already. Any help would be appreciated

Looking for help on this. Sold my fully unlocked gc3 and buyer can't activate the new fsx 2020 license key. Called foresight they said you have to pay the transfer fee. Wondering how you all were able to do it without paying a fee and without giving them your fsx live account.

They provide the login credentials upon the sale and they change the contact information to themselves. Not sure there's another way to do it while avoiding the cost.

That's what I thought. My issue is I have both my old device and new device on the same fsx live account so I can't give them the credentials or I no longer have access to my new device.

I didn’t have to (or my buyer) pay any transfer fees as the FSX licences I was selling had never been registered / used.

A very simple process. The new user did the legwork - all I had to do was confirm to Foresight that I’d sold them to the new user.

I am in a similar position. I am trading in my unit to Trackman so i will be left with FSX 2020. Does a new buyer have to change the details or can they just login as me?
                    Many thanks.
What would be a good price for the software with no additional paid courses?
