Foresight Camera in FSX Play Not Working

Just bought a Foresight swing camera.

It works just fine in FSX2000 but in FSX play the camera is not recognized.

The launch monitor is a GC3 ( eternally unlocked Bushnell Launch Monitor) .

The camera is recognized in the device monitor and has latest driver update.
FSX play version is 1.13 something.

Computer is win 10 with 3070 graphics card with latest updates. The instructions say the camera should work but as stated FSX play can't find it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated as this is a real PITA.

The only thing I haven't yet tried is reloading FSX Play.

FSX Play also works just fine except for the inability to find the camera.

Reloading FSX Play fixed the problem. Possibly there was a bug in the previous download even though it was several updates after the original insertion of swing camera functionality.

I was looking at ordering a couple of Foresight swing cameras to add to my setup - now that FSX Play supports them.
I stumbled across an article on Reddit, which said that the Foresight cameras are Kayeton cameras (model no: KYT-U100-MCS2812GS1), with a Foresight badge on them.

I can pick these up for about £100 (inc tax and shipping) vs £300 for the Foresight badged ones. All specs look identical - I just need to figure out which lens I need.

Do the Foresight ones come with any sort of bracket for mounting them? I can't see any info either on Kayeton or Foresight, but ideally I'd be wall mounting mine.

There is a threaded insert in the bottom of the camera and a plate attached to the bottom which would fit in some kind of tripod stand. I'm using the bolt hole insert.

The Foresight camera comes with three lenses. It may not be so easy to decide what lense to order If you have short distances. The adjustable lens may require a longer distance.

It really comes down to what picture you want to see. Using longer distances puts more background into the frame. More background means more pixels devoted to things you don't really need for swing analysis and thus less resolution of you while swinging..

In my case it turned out I am using the short focus lens which images me from foot to top; of backswing pretty much filling up the frame. I have no idea .if the built in drivers are the same in other cameras. The Foresight instructions for the other cameras they support are not just plug it in and they work..

I decided to get the Foresight camera just to eliminate the screwing around to get the others to work, That really didn't work out since the version of FSX play in my computer either didn't work for cameras or had dropped a bit or two somehow and I was chasing my tail until reloading the latest version of FSX Play..

In my case, the golfer is about 11ft away from where I propose to put the camera. I do have a tripod (which has the mount on it), but would rather wall mount it so there’s not something sitting on the floor.
The one behind the golfer (which would be a second purchase at a later date if this went well) would only be about 4-5ft away.

At 11 feet the long range adjustable lens is fine.At 4-5 feet you would need the short lens which is 2.1mm if I remember correctly.

One thing to remember is these cameras need decent amount of ambient light. The more frames per second the more light is required for a nice looking video, That said you really don't require a very bright video to see your swing faults. I have no idea what type of picture you need to use something like Swing Catalyst. for precise analysis.

I usually ‘play’ with the lights down a bit so that the screen pops… but can easily ‘practice’ with the lights turned up. The 3200 lumens is much better in the dark, but still usable with the lights on!

Thanks for the help with the lenses. I think I’ll order the the 5-50mm one first and see how I get on. Will also need to order up a USB hub of some description, as I think my PC is out of ports!

I ordered the camera from Ali Express on Tuesday. £112.50 including shipping and taxes. It arrived today.
Not sure what the differences are with the official Foresight ones - apart from the branding (and I think they come with the different lens options?). I hope Foresight can stick the stickers on straighter though!!

I've found a whole load of wall mountable brackets on ebay / Amazon, so will get something ordered up after I try it. I've got a tripod I can try it on for now, but I'd rather have the floor space free - so wall mounting is better. It's a lot bigger / heavier than I expected!

Unfortunately, the 5-50mm lens is no use. I'm too close for it. I can't fit the golfer's head and feet into the same shot - even when zoomed out to the max. I think I'd need another 2 or 3 feet.
I've asked if I can order the other lens on it's own - I think it's 2 -12mm. Hopefully it can fit all off the golfer in?!

I see what you mean about bright light. In my normal 'playing' darkness, the camera picks up next to nothing. It seems ok with the lights on (and my washed out projector)!
