I have been looking at used GC2s on eBay and I'm curious if anyone has any words of wisdom for making sure I get a good unit. I know that I want an apple-compatible bluetoooth unit ("A" seriel number). 2nd Swing on eBay provides copyright year, serial number, boot version and firmware version. As long as it's got the "A" serial number, does the rest matter? I know firmware can be updated, but what is boot version (and which version is best/most recent)?Does it matter what the copyright year is? I'm not sure if that corresponds to model year or year of manufacture - but would it matter or has the hardware changed in recent years?

Be aware of any seller requesting funds through western union . A few people on ebay were conned last year bidding on a used GC2 . The seller left his email on the ad for people to contact him directly,
He offers to take off the listing at fixed price and would forward a forged letter from ebay with a guarantee of refund if product was faulty etc along with payment method through western union for the contract to be valid etc

The copyright year for products normally tells you when the patent was filed so you can calculate for how long it is protected.
Since the GC2 related patents have been updated the copyright year changed.
The firmware can be updated, therefore you can't look at any of the Copy Right year, firmware version or boot version to know how old the unit is.
I guess serial number could be translated to production or sales date assuming Foresight would do that for you. No idea if they will. Have not asked.
The A serial number means the unit has the Apple authentication chip that is required to connect to an Apple iOS device via USB or BT. For obvious reasons that restriction does not exist when WiFi is used to connect to an iOS device. Keep in mind that if you buy a non A version. You can still use it with an Android device since the same app exist for both Android and iOS.
(Have not tested either of them yet so can't say if they are identical but the Android app is lower cost probably due to the Apple app store commission)
