  • GC3 w/Ball & Club - Optimal Range Software

    New Member Here (Thanks!).

My basic use-case is to practice with the GC3 on the range and analyze during and after. Note: I picked up the FSXPro license too. I’m also piloting Awesome Golf.

WIth that, I looking for some feedback on using one or the other? Certainly I want the best experience and data I can get. Any input/direction would be greatly appreciated.

    Few initial observations…

    FSXPro (iPad):
    - The integration with Live is inconsistent (for me)
    - The Range (club view) has a few funky line representation issues
    - Anyone using it with a local user/player (only) and not uploading to Live? Cleaner?

    Awesome Golf (iPad):
    - Heard good things
    - I read somewhere that their algorithms may skew the data slightly. Any truth to that?
    - Any downside if I go with Awesome Golf?

I’m interested in the pros and cons as it relates to user experience and data quality. Also, is there another app I should consider instead?

    Many thanks in advance.

I've used FSX 2020, TGC 2019, GSPro. I ran FSX and TGC simultaneously and FSX and GSPro simultaneously for range sessions and compared the data. Notably, got different results for yards offline: TGC and GSPro were forgiving (less dispersion) compared to FSX 2020. Carry was nearly identical. I assume this is the video game effect of making it more fun. Since then, I always use FSX 2020 for range work. I use GSPro for course play.

I use the FSX pro iPad a lot for range sessions.

Do not bother with FSX live.

After your session when you are on wifi create a report and then send the full spread sheet to your self by mail.

the speed sheet file has all kinds of great data in it on dispersion patterns etc.

you can compare results in detail.

it is really great when you want to try a swing change, or new club, or a new shaft or setting, and want to see what the dispersion patterns you get.
