  • GC2 PC

I've got a GC2 with HMT coming, and want to get a PC set up to run a projector (for simulation purposes), but...when I look at specs online I'm seeing $2500+++ for something they'd "recommend". Anyone build one for less? Is that about the going rate? I'd really like to spend as little as possible and get as much machine for the money as possible...

The PC you need is based on the software you want to run on it. You should mention what the software is. A $2500 PC is overkill for any software.

      FSX Software

The spec sheet calls for Windows 7 or 8, up to 4K resolution, 16GB Memory, stand-alone video card with 2GB RAM or higher (NVIDIA Geforce 980 or higher), an i7 Processor, and as for the display, I have several at home I'd just use for a "monitor" while using the projector for the...projector.

Being a mac guy for the last 6 years (after decades of saying I'll never convert), I'm just not in the PC "game" enough to know what I'm really looking for.

I just bought my pc for GC2 simulator play - GC2and HMT with Pro Tee and The Golf Club sim software. Came in right around $1500. The specs are in my thread in the computer section of the forum (just make sure to read through to the end where I note the changes I made to the posted specs).

Bentley, how do you like Protee and TGC? I just got the fsx software and wanted to get your thoughts on whether you like protee or TGC better.

Haven't had the chance to use them yet. I am still assembling the components for my simulator. Should be ready to go in about 2 weeks. I didn't get the FSX software. Since I knew I wanted TGC, I just didn't see getting enough bang for the 2000 bucks to add FSX. I will get the $50 iPad app.
