  • Older GC2 and TGC

Pulled trigger on an older GC2, does not have software.... Do all of these units have the bluetooth? Listed firmware is 3.1, will find out better once in hand..

Will i have to send to foresight to get the iOS bluetooth upgrade (which will probably mean a upgrade in firmeare too) or will this unit have what i need to run the TGC software on a pc, which is fine with me.

Getting a room setup as dedicated sim area. Looking forward to playing/practicing!

Yes all gc2 have Bluetooth but so far I've seen nothing in this thread showing it works in this unit.

In fact the guy is insistent that it either doesn't have it or it doesn't work and it sounds like multiple people have asked and he is sticking with his story.

Since he is so adamant i can't see eBay protecting you at all just because you didn't believe him.

So the risk is you get it and it doesn't have a working Bluetooth. That's about $1k by the time you are all done (500 plus tax plus shipping plus shipping insurance plus foresight greed risk). So tell him since the Bluetooth is broken it is worth $1k less as it requires repair and make an offer accordingly.

That might motivate him to figure out if the Bluetooth really does exist or is broken. It only takes an android or PC to verify so he could do it if he wants to. Maybe he knows more than he is letting on...

It's an old unit, not even the current shipping hardware version and it doesn't have working Bluetooth according to him. He also says in the ad there are no returns. Taking him at his word the thing is probably worth half what he wants... He can't have it both ways!

Having said all that, i suspect he just doesn't know but that's easy for me to say since I'm not the one risking the money. If i was I'd make him resolve the issue or id let it pass. There will be others, no need to get desperate. Working versions like this sold for $2250 last summer.

Also he says no software yet claims he was using it... So what was he doing with it? That part doesn't quite add up to me.

So summer is when places like second swing have the best prices?

I read a bit last night and finally understand how 3rd party software like tgc work with gc2. It also makes me nervous that gc2 is working so hard to prevent this. Foresight also seems ridiculously money hungry with trying to push SDK purchase on people that obviously won't buy it. The Bluetooth will missy likely get encrypted somehow imo. After all, foresight gets zero revenue off TGC....unlike what ST is trying to do.

GC2 is still an expensive gamble if they fix the glitch. However, if your unit never breaks and you keep old firmware on it, you MAY be ok.

To me, after some research, foresight is a pretty shitty business model and shady sales tactics.

Also, if I'm dropping 3-4k on a used unit, I want the A unit to take it to the range. I enjoy that part of ST and I don't plan to keep both.

There is someone selling an A unit on these forums. Look in the Buy/Sell section. It actually includes TGC as well. He stated he is open to best offers

I agree goodmatt. A lot of time has been spent on skygolf and the botched things they have done (like having no sim options for Christmas season!) but I think several people in this forum would have bought gc2s if not for some shady calls with foresight sales people even prior to skytrak release. I'm talking about calling for a price direct to foresight. Getting a price. Then getting an email changing that offer to a lower price with a "small" addition of software within 24 hours!. thought they would adapt when they weren't the only game in town but they appear to be raising the overall cost (sdk fee). Interesting plan with es16 on the horizon and skytrak already out (kind of). BUT. Gc2s are sweet and I still want one.

        I just bought this unit.

I'll let you know if it works with PG whenever I receive it.

        Stay tuned.

You'll be more than golden, good choice. Don't worry about it, the seller just doesn't know what he's talking about.

Worst case scenario you'll need to get the Bluetooth fixed. It's likely not a hard fix but like a lot of things foresight will charge a lot.

Well just to update everyone that was involved in this thread...

The GC2 came tonight. Fired it up, and turned on the bluetooth on my PC and it found it. Connected it no problem. Started up PG and went to the range and it displayed my shots no problem! Only tested this with tiny chips inside the house, but I will give it a full test in the garage tomorrow.

The GC2 itself looks a bit rough, but hey it seems to work. The feet on the bottom are cracked on one side, couple of good scuff marks on it, and a tiny crack on the top. Looks pretty close to that rectangle window where the cameras are behind, so I'm hoping nothing is wrong with the accuracy on this thing, but we will see.

The leg is pretty easy to fix. Mine cracked and they replaced it.

mthunt, did your request a new leg? Mine's broken too and I'd like to get a new one.

I brought it to Foresight and they fixed it.

Did you buy it then from Aaron? Did he fix it? He's the only direct foresight dealer I know of in Canada.

Yes. Aaron fixed it for me. He's a great guy. I bought it from him as well. He sold me my mat too.

Glad you had/having a good experience with him. I'm not, I'll be dealing with the US foresight guys (even though I'm in Canada). Aaron's all about $$$, asked him if I could buy a few little things (case and new flash). Blew me off cause I wasn't buying a new GC2. Better to deal with par2pro or US foresight.
