    Battery issues

    Just got my gc2a.

Used it to the point it needed to be charged. It has been plugged in for two hours, charge showing 5.95 volts.

When it is plugged in, I think it should show 8.5 volts to show its hearing and mine shows 5.95 when plugged in and on battery.

could I have gotten a bum charger? There is no green led on the brick.

Maybe. You bought it new? Call Foresight on Monday.

Yes did you buy it new or used? Mine doesn't show a green charge light either. I had a friend over today and we played for 4 hours and I haven't put a charge on yet. I know when the battery is low, it'll show lower than 8.5V (that shows when the GC2 is fully charged).

I'll plug it in later and see what it comes up at..........it's to bad there isn't a battery level indicator on such a pricey unit.

        Bought used.

I just checked and charge was 6.4 so that must mean it's getting some power.

Charged all night. Still under 6. Must be the charger. It worked for several hours on battery power yesterday so I think the battery is fine.

Guess I'm going to battery's plus today

I checked mine yesterday after 3,5 hours of use and was at 7.0 V, Put the charger on it and now it's at 8.5 V. Good call on the battery. I would just play with it and see how long the battery lasts. I believe it's supposed to be 6 hours of battery on a full charge. Good Luck.

Where do you see the volts displayed?
I've had issues with mine using it while not plugged it. It always dies within 10 minutes. I was thinking it was the battery needing to be rebuilt, but I'm curious if it's the charger not working first. Bought mine on ebay.

2 ways to view the volts. 1st on startup, watch the screen, plugged in it will show 8.5V.

Or when in use, go to menu and scroll down to 'about' and that will tell you too.

In the settings menu. Look up the manual online and it tells you

so when It's plugged in, it jumps up to 8.5v so from what you guys say that sounds normal.

As soon as I unplug, it starts dropping. Every time I click about, it seems to have dropped a bit.
After a few minutes unplugged it has gone down to 6.58

Does this describe a bad battery?

I have no experience but that makes sense. Remember someone on here took it to batteries plus and got it rebuilt for half the price of a new one but that is from memory

This is going to sound dumb, but I looked in the gc2 manual and it really didn't describe it any better...

When the gc2 is ON and you are using it while plugged in, is it still charging the battery, or is it just running from AC power?
Does the gc2 need to be turned OFF in order to charge the battery?

The only time i've plugged it in is when I'm actually using it, so I just wanted to make sure that should be charging it before I take it to batteries plus.

It charges while on as well. It died, I plugged it in then used while still on, I unplugged it and used it.

                          Thanks.

I tried charging it all night last night, fired it up this morning and it died within 10 minutes. I'll probably be going to batteries plus this week and get them to rebuild the cells.
