Hey Drew, can you post the link here? Many others will be looking for it, and you'd save a lot of people a lot of time.

Hi guys... Can somebody provide a little transparency on why a calibration tool would be necessary?

Background: I'm in discussion with a GC2 rep right now, and he hasn't said anything about "calibration." Paraphrased: "No need to do ANYTHING...just set up, and go!"

          Thanks for looking...

The GC2 is a self levelling device. That means it it's not quite level, it'll internally level itself to give accurate readings. The calibration software has you put the device on a dead level surface such as my pool table and set what is dead level zero. They come calibrated this the set up and go. As a side note, never calibrate a GC2t

mthunt Thanks for the response. I'm left to ask then --- If it's self leveling out of the box --- Why would anyone need a calibration tool? I'm interested, because mine is in the mail, and I want it to work properly/efficiently from the beginning...

                Thanks for looking!

Foresight calibrates it at the factory before shipping it out, so you shouldn't need to run the calibration tool. In theory, it should only need to be calibrated once. If the internal sensor or cameras shifted slightly over time (think years of opening/closing, putting in your golf bag, bouncing in your trunk, etc) then the zero point for leveling could get knocked off by a degree or two. The GC2 has an accuracy of 0.2 degrees, so any shift more than that could be fixed by running the calibration software.

It could have gone out of level.

I didn't realise this only worked on the older models
