Need Advice on Buying a used GC2

I have a chance to buy a used GC2 from a guy who was on ebay. The deal sounds to good to be true, so I will only do it through ebay and paypal to protect myself.
Anyway, for $2500 Cdn $ I get the GC2 unit which is to be in perfect working order as well as a 1080i projector, laptop, fitting software, 5 courses, and the protective cradle.

If it is a scam I will have protected myself. If not, my big concern is the shape of the unit even if it's now in good working order.. I'm sure the batteries and bulbs can be easily replaced. How much life do these units have in them. If it has been used continuously as in a commercial environment do they tend to have moving parts that will wear out over time. I have included the emails I received back from him below. He has a 100% rating on 17transactions with ebay.


Should I pull the trigger on this package? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks

I have ended the listing for a buyer, but he didn't paid. The price is CAD$2500 with shipping included. I bought it new, used it several times. Below i attached photos and description

Included with the GC2 is the club fitting software, and the elevated protective aluminum cradle and others(also all items from photos are included also included are these golf courses....

I'm also throwing in unused and unopened additional usb cable and an unused and unopened active extension active extension repeater cable

This is a late model gc2, with the bluetooth capability. I am including the software dongle needed to run the software.

it is a scam. It is the same eBay person who keeps trying to get people to do the deal outside of eBay so you do not have any protection. Notice that the details of the sale are in a picture format so ebay cannot search for suspicious listings.

Tell him you will pay the ebay fees for him and process the transaction through eBay. I guarantee you do not hear a word after mentioning to do the deal through ebay.

Yea, in the past week there were 2 ebay scams for GC2. They ask for your information and send you a fake ebay invoice. Watch out for tarboroy@gmail.com or evelynbarham@gmail.com. They are running the same scam

You still had the gut feeling. As long as you didn't fall for it, all is good.

Advice from someone who spent a whole bunch of time as a police detective: An item being sold for substantially below market value is a strong indicator that criminality is afoot!

When you see something being sold on Craigslist, eBay or even locally for way below market value, it's far more likely than not that criminal activity is present. At best, the item you are buying is HOT. And at worst, it's a straight out scam that will leave you with nothing.

Whenever you are considering buying something, search completed listings on eBay.

Remember, whether you are buying a used car or GC2, the market sets the price. Not Blue Book, not people on the internet, not experts. No, the "proper" price is the average of what numerous sellers and buyers collectively arrive at (read: the market).

There is no better indicator of "the market" than eBay's completed listings.

You should always get an idea of the market price before you consider buying or selling something.

For example, if the Blue Book says that your used car is worth $12,500 but a search of eBay shows that over the last 90 days, 11 similar ones were sold in your area for an average of $8,500 with none over $10K, there is not a snowball's chance in hell that you are getting $12,500 for your car.

Any substantial deviation from market price on anything is reason for alarm. After all, why wouldn't the seller want to get what other sellers have gotten?

If average on a GC2 (so software) is $4,500, it's OK to look at ones at $3,600 or so. But when someone is selling one at $2,000 with the SDK and all the software (nearly $20K MSRP)? You know it's a criminal who put the ad up. Note: $4,500 appears to be the current market price. In the summer, it appears to go lower.

From used cars to smartphones to GC2, if someone is trying to sell you an item way below market price, there is bad juju present. It's either HOT or a flat out scam. Steer clear and alert the authorities.
