  • GC2 Range Software at Golfsmith vs my GC2

I went to a Golfsmith in January and got fitted for a driver. I got the M1 with a Stiff Aldila Rogue Silver shaft because I was carrying it 260+ on the driving range software using a GC2. This was about 10 yard further than I was carrying my own driver. I made him show me that the shot distance boost was set to 1.0 (was turned off) before I made the purchase.

Fast forward two months later and I'm one week into owning my own GC2. I use the FSX and TGC software. The furthest I've been able to carry a drive is 242. My longest drive with roll is 265 and this was likely on a downhill tee shot. I'm hitting mid and long irons into par 4s in qualifying school on TGC.

Has anyone else experienced this? The weather hasn't been nice enough to get out to a range to test this yet but I have definetely seen myself fly the ball 250 at numerous real life ranges. I can't figure this out...

Can't hurt to calibrate your gc2 if you haven't in a while. Also maybe the elevation setting was different?

I ran into this issue initially and I think it was due to comfort. By that I mean my ceilings are 8 ft 9 inches and it took me a while to get comfortable swinging driver. After playing daily for the last couple weeks, I got more comfortable doing a full turn and follow thru. My distances now are closer to real life (I use GC2 as well).

This may not be the case with you, but if your space feels a bit tight, give yourself a couple hundred swings to adjust, then reassess.

It seems to take a lot of people a while to start getting the distance right. I read so many stories of hitting short. I actually almost returned mine. I thought something was wrong with it. It was me or me being inside. Give it some time. Also, do a calibration. Pm me if you need the software.

Does this software also work with the GC2-T?

How do I recalibrate my GC2? I remember doing it initially but haven't come across that settings screen since then. Also, what is the azimuth setting? I recall being confused by it and eventually leaving it as 0.

Thanks mthunt. I ran the calibration software last night and seem to be seeing some results. Last night I carried the ball 266 with a ball speed of 148.5. Prior to this, a ball speed of 151 for me had produced a carry of only 256. Seems this must have helped my GC2 become more accurate on the launch angle front.

Your feet aren't down in one picture there. That will throw the GC2 off.

I realize there is no roll out but I would usually hit my 8 / 150 yards with out roll & my 7 / 160 yds with no roll . I would never have known what the ball speed would have been ??????? does anyone else know what my ball speed should be in yards .

                          Things that effect distance:
-mat. Slightly fat shots on a CCE mat penalize more than you'd think
-being inside. Not everyone swings to full effect inside. I didn't at first.
-unit needing calibration or unit not being level or leg not deployed
-the ball. This is big. Use prov1 to test. It's the standard.
-you. Not beings warmed up or making bad swings

If you truly believe you carry an 8 150, you should be North of 110 ball speed. Keep in mind hitting it 140 on a 150 yard par 3 and rolling 15 feet leaves you a 15 foot putt and you think everything is cool.

Technically, both are correct. Landing 10 yards short with 15 ft and 15 yds of roll both leave 15 feet putts.
