I've been browsing this site for a week or so now and have decided to purchase a new GC2 with HMT. One thing that I find helpful is to see my swing from down the line and face on in a split screen mode. The PGA Superstore near my house has this software with their Aboutgolf simulators, but I'm not seeing any posts here about people having / using something similar along with their GC2. I like to be able to draw lines and analyze my swing and use V1 Golf on my iPad occasionally, but that isn't as nice a solution as doing it on the pc. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the reply. I'm a newbie to all of this, what is TM and TPS?

Never mind, just did some searching and see you mean Trackman. I don't think I really have enough room for TM, as my room is 16' 4" wide and 16' deep (although it's open at the back, I could technically go back further than 16'). My main use will be the range / camera analysis, but I'm hoping to use TGC with the Foresight system for simulation.

No recemendations. I know that FSX is pretty feature rich on what you want.Originally posted by abirdie4me View Post
Do you have any recommendations for the cameras? And does the FSX software allow you to draw lines on the screen like V1?My Courses:

I have a camera from The Image Source. Very fast shutter, 120 FPS , color, GiGe connection. Can film with minimal lighting and just 12 feet behind. I can see club without any blurring. I use Motion View golf analysis software. Many more features compared to V1. Not have phone APP so use V1 on golf course. I don't have FSX buy PR1. I have separate computer and monitor for swing analysis. Other popular cameras are from Point Grey.

How so, Dax? I may be misinformed, but I think you can get GC2 + HMT for around $15K or so, but Trackman 4 is around $24K for out/indoors or around $18K for indoors only. He would have to go TM4 if he wants simulation as TM3 doesn't read putting. Isn't that the case? Thx

You are correct TM4 indoor is 18k however this includes the TPM software. What is the gc2 price once software is included? I thought the two were pretty close? Also he could get a fully loaded TM3 that does not do putting as you noted for very close as well and this would the. Have outdoor and indoor. I love my TM3 and when you add everything it measures plus all of the camera features and the fact that TPM is so versitile I thought it would be something to consider assuming the space has the reqd length which he may have. It's not the perfect solution, but I just think once people start adding the HMT to their GC2 that TM might be something to consider. Also, as many of you know, I use e6 for simulation and have a solution for putting that works very well. Also, lately I find my self not using e6 as much as I do TPM as I find there is so much information and things that I can do with TPM.

The TM4 looks very interesting, and at a similar pricepoint to GC2+HMT I may reconsider. My main concern is my room is only 16' deep, not sure that is enough room to get accurate TM results.

TM4 works in 16 feet but how can you buy one and only use it indoors so you'd need the 24k one. TM3 works in 18 or 19 feet. I considered buying one but an extra 6k to use it outside killed my interest. My Courses:

How do you like the Motion View software? Do you use it with more than 1 camera?Originally posted by CBearsSB View PostI have a camera from The Image Source. I am using one camera. Motion view is great. You can get a demo download but does not allow all of the functions/features. Not as intuitive as V1, in part, due to more features; however once start using to its fullest capabilities it is quite a learning tool. If get demo ask for basic instructions to use. The demos are time based and will start to see blackening of image. You do not want to waste valuable demo time trying to figure out how to utilize the software.

I would strive for at least 12 feet of ball flight with TM for your drives and say anything down to 10 feet on all other shots. From here I would suggest 9 feet behind for TM3. If I recall you suggested that you could move the unit back out of your room. If this is possible, then consider the following 1. Will being 12 feet from the screen cause you issues with you backswing and the back of your room, 2. Will there be anything that will interfere with the radar if the unit is outside of your main room. I am concerned that the later may give you issues, but note that a call to TM could clear this up and a request for a dem unit to ensure no issues will provide you with the feedback you need to make a decision. I fear you don't have the space, but it is worth exploring.
My final thoughts are to strive for TMs recommended distances as much as possible. I squeezed out as many extra inches as I could in my set up and am very happy with my results as I was able to just get 12 feet of distance from tee to screen on my drives (I have pretty good ball speed and low spin so I need the length for my drives to register and have no issues with my current set-up).
