    GC2 Flash Unit

Blew my first flash unit tonight. Its in a GC2 Tee marker so I'm not sure if it has a shot counter but its lucky if its used 5000-7000 shots (6 months use, normally 250 balls per week). The info that come with the unit said 30,000-40,000 shots. How long are people getting out of them? I've only clocked up 33 hours on my projector, thats 15 shots a minute for 30,000 shots lol.

FYI, I have been using my GC2 regularly for about 20 months. The unit is still on its original flash, doing maybe 300+ shots per week.

Be aware that there has been talk about them changing the components in the flash. There is a number on the flash and a letter. Seems that letter has been going higher and the ones with the H seem to be ones that are new parts. They are not lasting as long. I have a couple new ones from 2 years ago that are F. Sounds like these are ok but yet to see.

The flash should last 2-3 years with average use. Seems they know it is an issue and is why they are coming out with a new but way higher priced flash that is supposed to last longer. Longer than what is the question. If it is longer than the old ones that did last, then fine, but if it is longer than the short life ones, then that is no better than the original ones but now more money.

So the new flash may be 3 times the price of the old one and unless it lasts 10 years or more it is not a much of a deal.

Mine has 6700-0535 Rev F on the back. Has a rattle too (not the screws) so maybe the bulb has blown. I noticed the new one didn't rattle. 2-3 years is what I was hoping for, every 6 months would start to get expensive!
