TGC on GC2 - Setup Help Needed

Thanks to a lot of great advice on this forum, I just bought the GC2 launcher and a gaming computer from CyberpowerPC with the right build for TGC. My computer has arrived and the launcher is coming in a few days and now I'm left with 3 questions for the group:

    1. How do I buy TGC? Seems like a silly question but I can't seem to find a way to buy it online anywhere.

    2. I thought I saw somewhere on a forum here the exact steps to get started with TGC to make it work properly for GC2 but I can't find it now. Does anyone have those steps? I don't want to start down the wrong road.

    3. Finally, does anyone have any tips or advice in terms of what to do/not to do to get this set up?

    Thank you very much!

    1) I bought mine from par2pro but swingsense also sells it, I think its the one that says it does not work with the GC2 but not sure. Hopefully someone else will confirm.
    2) There is a sticky in this forum
    This thread:
Follow the steps below and in the next few post to initially connect your GC2 to GSX to ProTee Interface. Enjoy! 1: Connect your Bluetooth adapter to your pc's USB

I got mine working relatively painelessly

    3) Buy golf club early, follow the directions you need a licence key for both The Golf Club and The Pro Tee Interface.

Other than that, I don't have much other help for you, my sim room isn't setup yet so I just threw it quickly out on my patio with a net and the cpu. It worked well. I only played a couple holes. Just like real life..... I have an affinity for water....

Good luck! I am sure someone else will provide more helpful info.

I bought it from swingsense and it works fine. They will email you download links and also mail you a USB thumb drive with the software. You also need GSX in addition to TGC and the protee interface. All of these are included in the $1k TGC package on the swingsense website.

Once you get them installed, the data flow is GC2 to GSX via Bluetooth, then GSX to protee interface, and finally protee interface to TGC.

If you follow the instructions on the forum you will be up and running in no time.

Thanks very much guys. That's really helpful. I have just a couple of follow-ups based on your responses if you don't mind:

        1. On swingsense.com I see I can either buy TGC 2016 for $995 or TGC plus Pro Tee Golf 2.0 for $1,195. I wasn't sure which I'm supposed to buy since there's mention of the Pro Tee interface in your instructions but I thought the price would be 1k total which is also mentioned above.

        2. Apologies if this sounds dumb but where do I buy GSX? I'm not sure I've seen that reference before.

        3. Another dumb question - I see from the instructions I need to do the setup via Bluetooth adapter. What's that? (I know - I'm obviously not a technology guy).

Thanks very much again for your time. I really appreciate the help!!!

        Garry

          1) you don't need pro tee 2.0. You can just get the golf club
          2) gsx is part of the installation package when I installed mine. I think it's automatically part of it. If not I am sure support will help Ou find it. The support team is awesome and very very responsive. They responded to my questions within hours on a weekend.
          3) Bluetooth is a wireless protocol that connects devices. It's similar to wifi which you have likely used before to connect laptops or iPads to your internet connection. Although similar, Bluetooth connects only with other blue tooth devices. So you need a Bluetooth device on your computer or you need to buy the little dongle (looks like a small flash drive) that you plug into a free USB port on your computer. I bought the Asus USB-bt400 for ok Amazon. It was the dongle from the sticky thread here about which Bluetooth devices to use to connect to the Gc2. It's about $15 and works great. I also got an USB extension cord to get the device close to my Gc2.

          good luck!!!

TGC is all you need. Follow the instructions in the Foresight section. GSX is part of the download. You'll need to buy a good Bluetooth adapter that plugs into a USB. It needs to be pretty close. You can buy a USB extension cord. I have an extended range Bluetooth and its 8 feet away. That's the max. If you get stuck, Protee can remote into your PC. It's free.

is there any kind of trial or free trial for this. i am quite concerned about the delay in the ball and seeing it on the screen and how much that would annoy me. but I dont' want to figure that out over 1k dollars lol

Are you talking about Skytrak? My GC2 with bluetooth connection to TGC has about the same delay as my direct connected protee had. It's literally under 1 second. Skytrak is much much worse and from what I've read there isn't a whole lot you can do about it.

I don't think there has ever been a free trial. However, quite a few players on here post videos of their rounds. You can get a good feel for the delay by watching some of those. Like kinitex said, GC2 is around a second delay, Skytrak is more like 3.

If you are considering TGC, you will need a really good graphics card to run it smoothly. You can buy it on Steam for around $30 to see if yours can run it without the video being jerky.

Not with GC2. There was, however, a 30-day trial with ES16.
              Working...
