I used to have mine sitting on a piece of MDF to make it the same level as my hitting mat. Is that right, or should it be higher than the mat?
Is there a 'right' answer?!
I believe it's the same height as your hitting surface. Friends of mine have theirs this way and it works without issue. At least from what us hacks can tell anyway.
Mine sits at the same height as the mat on a piece of the same mat. With that setup it can find balls on the mat and those on a 4 inch tee. If you go below the mat then it may have a hard time finding a teed up ball
Anywhere between level with the hitting surface to just over an inch above.

Thanks guys...
Mine has been the same level as the mat for the last 18 months without any issues. I just wondered if there was an optimal height.
I want to make some sort of slot for it to sit in - so that it's always back in the same place after I move it!
