  • TGC with GC2 - effekt of uphill and downhill shots

    Hi guys,

i just want to know the effect of up- and downhill shots in TGC.

    For example:
    distance to pin 140 yards
    height differential: 0 yards
I hit my wedge about 140 yards - so perfect club for this shot.

But if i'm on a fairway wave and stand uphill.
In RIL i have to hit an iron 9 because the ball is flying higher than normal and the carry distance is shorter.
What happens in TGC? Shorter or no effect?

    Best regards
    Philip

I figure 30 feet of elevation plays to one extra club, either up or down based on elevation, so yes I play same as IRL as well.

Is it possible to see the degree of standing?

So you guys are saying the launch angle measured is applied to the slope of the lie in TGC and not to a 0* level lie?

I agree uphill shots will carry less than downhill, but I think OP isn't asking that.

          unless I misread...

            I misread it.

No I think you're right and I misread. As far as I know everything plays as if you're on a flat lie regardless of your lie in TGC.

So if i stand uphill i should not use one iron more?

No. Same iron. I was thinking elevation.

You will still want to adjust which club/distance you are shooting for. Think of it this way. The uphill/downhill will be the same as IRL but you will always have a flat lie which usually isn't the case IRL.

Been curious about this also. is 'flat lie' true for all lies? for example, the lip of a bunker or in the rough?

I have had some lies that I could not advance the ball more then 50 yards from, no matter what club I tried and have just chalked it up to a crappy lie that I can't see.

Yes and it can be an issue like you say. I've had cases where I was on a severe up slope and clearing the slope is nearly impossible. IRL you wouldn't have this issue since you would be hitting with the slope. Having the lie enabled causes a bunch of other issues. The main reason for this is we have no way of showing what the lie situation is. Yes you can look at it but that doesn't tell you much. It's one of those sim things. There are pros/cons to both ways of doing it.

If you're asking if lie will effect the shot it will not. Side hill, down hill or up hill lies are not taken into consideration.
