    I did it...just got a gc2

So I finally got to terms with golfsmith I was ok with.

got unit number 53xx, hit a foam ball, it worked, I was forced to get the computer and TV with it, but I also got an extra flash sorhat was cool. Everything looks good and as much as I was sorta Leary of a Gs machine, they said foresight was awesome to work with and all their units were sent back and refurbed at any sign of issues etc. so inan feeling pretty good and think it was a fair price and I do have a case and range computer and flatscreen to keep on the side, at least it is a Bravia. So I am in business until I move and can make a sim and that had some value.

Only issue isn they didn't have any CDs with the software, but I have the dongle, so eventually when get a new cpu for tgc I will need to see if I can get a copy. I am also not sure about any passwords etc. I may need?

Any advice is welcome please, I am totally green with this. and it was $4k for all since I am sure someone will ask. Maybe not best deal in the world, but I am pretty happy with it and it was enought to justify a sway from me to gc2 from skytrack...

4000 is a good deal that is in line of what they sell for, did you buy the computer with the GC2. I have one for sale that will sell you that has the FS1 and 5 courses also what year is the boot loader on the start up of the GC2 this will tell you alot on the system.

Came with the CPU, FS1, 5 courses and a 42" (I think) Sony flatscreen. I don't think this CPU will run TGC, but it will get me going and even when I have a simulator I will want the tv to the side so whatever, at $4k I don't mind the tv and computer being forced part of the deal. I was happy about the extra spare flash plug thingy, that seemed to be a solid bonus.

have no idea on boot number, but it is serial 53xx as I said so I feel like it is not that bad. I have no idea if it has wifi, I doubt it, don't think any GS ones did. I am never going to take this to the range so I don't really care other than would make it easy for hitting until I move. I may send this all to my parents house. It isn't going to happen in my current one car garage, and we are moving as soon as the right place comes up, so who knows, but I wanted to secure a GC2 for a number I thought was going to be hard to beat and I think I did that. I am sure I would have been happy with skytrak, but I know I will be happy with this.

You already have the software on the computer you bought. If you buy a new computer just transfer the folders to the new computer. If you don't know how to do that, people here can walk you through it or I'm sure you work or know someone who could do it in a few minutes. As long as the hard drive doesn't get covered in thermite and lit with a burning magnesium firestarter don't worry about not having CD's.

You got a great deal on that setup.

Thanks yrrdead, I figured that was the case I just didn't know for sure. You would think foresight would have downloads on their site since the software is worthless without a dongle? I know of some dongle protected softwares where you can just get them off the site if you need because it isn't like they work otherwise.

pretty stoked my patience and perseverance paid off with calling GS. I kid you not, every phone call was a different answer. They are all sold, they are all $7 grand for studio, they are this and that. Anyway, he said they had 2 left (I got one) but that wasn't the case totally I don't think? I still don't know what the deal is with them, I am just happy I was able to get it lower than the liquidation company spec'ed from the guy.

Same experience on every call, different story, different answer. Didn't work out for me.

It says 2015, so it looks like I got sorta lucky or is this just a firmware date not a hardware date? Both? The GS I went to is newer, and according to the manager they basically rotated these things all the time.

I of course went to run some range and simulator today and I never got the windows password from GS, DOH. I will get it tomorrow.

              It also said:

              session: 60. Shot: 22

so I don't know wjat qualifies a session, but 22 shots was clearly how many I had hit since turning it on and noticing.

For the computer - in order to get admin access you need the user and admin passcode - I got it from GS it dept. PM if needed.

also the foresight password to make changes is fss01011

I got it this morning, and yes I also have that foresight one, it was the one they did give me......

if I have any other issues I may pm you.

I am so excited about this. Really more than I wanted but I know in the long run the gc2 is going to be no regrets.

do you have the admin access or the sign in access. if you are going to make any computer changes you need the admin user name and password make sure you have that as if you want to add a new graphics card this is needed.

Good point. As far as I can see, when I move, I will get TGC and upgrade computers. The fact it came with a computer is cool as hell for the meantime, but that is that.

on that note, I played today for the first time. Everything was super badass, I like the software, range and courses are fine(putting seems like you need to hit it way too hard). So I made putting auto. I ran into problems where like for 5 shots in a row, it just wouldn't register the shot. This was outside and sun was at a angle setting. It was on the course play. When I powered down the unit, it showed a shot on screen, like it was saved but didn't make it to the power on and work fine for a while and then not register in flurries. Also seems like higher pitches had more of an issue, but hard to say. It became more when the sun angle was lower, but could be a coincidence. Out of say 175 shots, it missed about 30, but in flurries of 3-5. Also it was NOT on level ground, I tried, but it was not how I would prefer. I am not concerned because I am sending back at some point anyway, just curious as to the misses in flurries.

I would wait for others in the forum on this as I know that others use outside all the time with no issues as what the Skytrak has issues with sunlight, If i remember correctly GC2 really is without issues outside but like I said i really do not recall the exact thread and what was the results. I know there is a way to correct your putting so it is actual but i would wait till you get your sim room up and running so your turf is permanent. Just keep an eye on your machine and take internal notes and throw out questions and all of us will help. Last note is that computer is not so bad for keeping temporarily its running a 8gb on the ram and the cpu is pretty strong and the system will hold a good 1060 graphics card, and will play TGC it might not be a strong computer but it is in the recommendations to work just fine and if you decide to upgrade just take out the graphics card and stick in the new computer build.

Thanks aeroburner. I never thought about it but maybe graphics card is all I may need.

I gotta say, every time I hit a shot and I knew for sure what it did from the feel, the gc2 and software spit out exactly that. feeling really good on the accuracy of distances and numbers from the machine from what I know about my game.
