  • FR1 download for GolfSmith GC2 buyers

    Hi

I purchased multiple GC2s from golfsmith. They included the FR1 dongle but no disk. Foresight is reluctant to share their software even if you own a product key. However, I heard there is a FR1 download link out there that will work if you own a dongle. Does anybody have this link or know where to get it.

    Thanks ahead of time.

Is this John? If so, I may have just spoke to you on the phone. I have the download file that I can share if you're offering a discount... lol

Don't you already have the software on another pc? You can simply pull the setup file from the pc to a cd or thumb drive. If you need the file I can send it to you.

I don't believe you can install even with a product key. Those keys are only good for one installation, and if you move software to a new computer you have to uninstall the old version while connected to the internet so they can verify uninstallation before you can use the key on a new computer. I've switched computers twice in the 5 years I've had my GC2 and it's a process that takes a day or two every time

I bought a GC2 from Golfsmith and found the FR1 install file on the PC that came with it. I copied the install file to a USB drive, moved the USB dongle to the new PC, and installed from the USB drive. There were a couple of product keys in the "Read me" from the install option screen.

I too have a GC2 + PC from Golfsmith. Everything ok so far but I have 2 outstanding problems with FR1:

            1) Do not know "options" password within app. The guys at store I bought from didn't know it. I've tried a couple of suggestions found in this forum but no luck.
            2) Not running current version. Is there an easy way to do upgrade?

I have asked Foresight about the above but no response as yet.

One problem I did solve is that I did not have an administrator level account on the PC, just regular user. I found a tip online on how to reset the local admin password and, although I was skeptical, it worked. If any other Golfsmith buyers have this problem I'd be happy to share.

The password is fss01011 unless someone changed it.

Does anyone know what the "special fitting mode" is in FR1? It was under settings and required another password. Anyone have it?

Did you ever get a response to this or figure out what this special fitting mode is? I too would like the password.

Does anyone have any pictures or better descriptions of what they got when they purchased this 'bundle' from Golfsmith? A store 2 hours away from me has a few units (bundles) up for sale at $7,000 each but I couldn't get them to go into details - clearly wasn't the first person to call and ask about it. They include the GC2, netting, projector, side nets, and CPU. I've also heard that Foresight is charging $500 fees to support. Has anyone been able to make the Golfsmith units work without Foresight's involvement??

I may pull the trigger on this decision this week or next so would love to know what I might be stepping into (besides a ~$7k credit card bill)...

                Thanks

Unit works great - just might have a problem when the flash unit goes out. We are going to need a generous GC2 registered owner to supply us with flashes since we apparently can't buy direct from the company.

The password is Transp0rt for the admin user which is simply Golfsmith when you sign into the computer. Also the fss01011 is what I got for the FR1 password direct from GS IT group.

I second that you can copy paste to a new computer the x86 files. The computer they sold was not capable of handling TGC even with a gtx 1060 card because the processor struggled. Mine was definitely an older version Xeon though.

probably not worth 7k right now as I would imagine quite a few used will come on the market when GCQ drops in the coming months. Should be able to haggle them down to at least 6.

Interesting, I helped with two other computers from Golfsmith. The admin password was different but the same on both of them. Golfsmith password did work for the user account though.

The two systems I saw were likely very expensive computers when Golfsmith bought them. They had CAD/CAM/Solid Works graphics cards in them that are much more expensive than normal video cards. Both ones I saw were quad core xeon's around 2.8 ghz. Ram was on the light side at 4GB.

I would have hoped TGC would run with that nice of a video card with a decent quad core at least 720p.

Yeah, mine was a 1st gen xeon, 2.4 ghz. It would lock up with TGC, and clearly was bottlenecking the 1060. I was really hoping it would work but I couldn't drop the display down enough to run TGC properly. I bit the bullet and went and got a nice i7 w/ 1070 during cyber monday week... runs like a champ.

Thanks tknotts, but the password Transp0rt did work for me. I even switch user name to admin and still was not able to log in. If anyone knows of a solution, please share. Thanks in advance.

You are still in the GSIcorp user. Change user to golfsmith and use the password I gave you.

They are easy to fix yourself with minimum skill . Check out the threads in the GC2 forum.

Hi All I also purchased one of the CG2's from Golfsmith. Everything worked fine. Paid $50 to get the app for my Samsung Tab that also worked fine. Battery only last about 30 minutes. Went to their website to order one. saw the free Firmware upgrade thought it would be nice to have the latest and greatest. DO NOT UPGRADE YOUR FIRMWARE TO 4.0.0.15. It has turned off my Bluetooth telling me that it needs an upgrade. Also the FR1 software and the APP is now not usable. If you go to their web site it tells you to upgrade. There are No warnings. Called them, they said that I need to Register the CG2 for ONLY $500.00. Paid the Money )(*)&*&(^% waiting to here back from them. I ask to put it back to working condition old firmware was 2.1.9.7. I may be wrong on this but I think that you must Register to buy spare Parts, don't know just yet. Those of us who purchased these, I think that they would consider us as future customers for HMT, FSX, other upgrades etc and give us some help/guidance to make sure we are enjoying their product.
