  • New GC2/HMT issues

    Hi,

I am new to the simulator world after a long research for the right bundle. I just acquired a GC2 with HMT and the FR1 software.
The units are working perfectly but I have a couple of issues and I am sure that some of the experts on this forum will have some answers.

My first issue is with the FR1 software. I have the DVD and the dongle. The issue is that the DVD is quite old so the most recent driver available is windows 7. How can I get a version with the windows 10 driver? After installing the software I have the following error message "An error occured checking the dongle" error 458. Not sure if it is because I used the wrong windows driver.

The second issue is with the HMT. I installed the 4 dots on all my clubs and went to the driving range with the foresight Ipad App. I got all the data except the impact location. Sometime it is located at 0mm or not at all located on the face. The screen of the GC2 display the one dot picture after each shot so I don't know if I need to change from one dot to four dots setting somewhere.

If you had this issue before or have the answers, thank you in advance.

    .
All the most current drivers are on the Foresight website.

Anyone else elbow how to fix this stuck in one dot mode thing? I can't seem to get my HMT to spit out anything but one dot mode, although I have all 4 dots on.

Also, the only firmware that reports anything from the HMT is the latest. All other firmwares spit out nothing but ------...

      Any help is appreciated.

I see this sometimes, tends to happen to students in lessons more than it does to me .

Here are some things to check......

1, Is one of the dots worn from a ball strike? If so it defaults to one dot mode
2, Is strike location on the toe? If so it could cover 1-2 of the dots needed for strike data
3, Could there be anything reflective in the field of view? GC2 and HMT didn't work at all with one of my students and yet when I hit his club it was perfect. He had his work trousers on (highway maintenance guy) which had reflective panels and they caused the pics to be over exposed! Had a similar issue with some Ecco shoes that had a reflective tongue, gc2 was fine but HMT didn't like them although would sometimes give 1 dot data.

      Hope that helps.

I find worn stickers is what forces it into 1 dot mode. Unfortunately my ball striking sucks and it happens a lot.

          Ok, thanks guys.

This was on brand new stickers after cleaning my club faces like I was going to eat off of them.

Is the HMT supposed to work on previous firmwares?

Since I get nothing on any firmware other than the latest one, which included one dot support, it seems that my HMT is not picking up some/a majority of the dots.

Since I put brand new dots on a sparkling clean club face, is there a possibility that I need to calibrate?

My GC2 is serial 12XX, so it's pretty old. Can that be an issue?

If all else fails, I'll contact FS support...lol. Last resort really.

Thanks Shanky and Ports. Maybe my sequence thong is too reflective?

Seriously though, I had sweatpants and crocs on...

Also, if I need to calibrate...what does this calibration target look like? I got nothing of such in the box, and I see nothing about it anywhere on their website.

From Foresight support in case anyone else wonders about this:
This HMT calibration option is only for older HMT devices that were not built with the auto accelerometer feature.

This was from another thread. I believe you are correct on the calibration being needed. I've been too scared to dive into that option on mine so can't help you much on how to do it.

Yeah I remember reading that on here.

I wonder what they consider an older HMT unit. My serial is like 461 or something.

Mine is 1352-uv. I was told it was roughly 1.5 years old from foresight

          Hi,

I have the same problem with the HMT since I updated to the last software. It is stuck in the one dot mode, and it is missing almost all the shots. Did anyone found a solutions?

          thanks,

What's everyone's serials? Mine are gc2 1240ish and hmt 401. I was told by foresight that these two shouldn't be an issue together...

I had a pretty early serial HMT and it didn't support the calibration. There must be a small number out there but I have yet to hear of anyone that has one. I started having a lot of misreads and did all kinds of test with Foresight support. They have a utility they can have you install that will send them the pics of what the HMT sees. They ended up having me send it in, "fixed it", and sent it back. When I got it back it had the same issue. I could get a full read in about 1 in 10. Most shots would be a one dot and the readings were obviously wrong. Foresight ended up doing an RMA and sent me a "new" one. Based on the serial I think it was refurbished but it works.

I didn't read the whole thread but if you haven't opened a support ticket I would do so. They'll get you going one way or another. It took a few weeks for mine to be all said and done.

There is clearly something going on here as for the last 2 weeks or so I'm haveing the same type of club data issues with my GC Quad. The just released a firmware update which ironically left my quad unusable for a day. I literally had to plug it directly into my router for 2 minutes off and on to communicate with foresight servers before it would work again.

Unfortunately I'm still getting insane club data (35 degrees innto out and 25 degrees down attack angles) with my driver. I've sent forsight a bunch of the data but haven't gotten an answer yet.
