  • Full Swing Kit - New Launch Monitor

Well, one of the big players is jumping into the consumer market for launch monitors. According to the webpage, Full Swing is releasing the “Kit” for $4k, and the reported metrics looks to include club pash and face angle at impact. The product page is light on details, but this looks to be the kind of product that could really disrupt Foresight’s hold on the midrange market.

Wow Anansi - that's impressive! It seems to be backed by Tiger, and I notice this at the bottom:

*Fully Refundable. *Targeted Ship Date Summer 2021.
I may consider kicking in the $100 just to see where it goes... Interesting...

    Thanks for posting that,
    -Brett

It looks like there’s some sort of media event planned for 11/30, so more details may be forthcoming. I’m very interested to learn how Full Swing plan to differentiate this product from their higher-end offerings, how a “machine learning enhanced radar” can provide accurate metrics indoors (given the space limitations that most garage golfers have), and what club data is provided at this price point.

Yes, will be interesting to see... I did notice the radar too, but it also seems to mention IR, and swing camera, so will be interesting to see where it sets up. Traditionally radar has been behind the ball (Mevo+/Trackman), though I think the $499 Rapsodo sets up next to ball? Will be a different option - that's for sure. Shaking up the market - as you said a mid-range option.

Brettster I believe one of the first radars to market for Anoutgolf prior to them going with cameras SAR behind the screen. Although this one defiantly looks like it will sit behind the player just like for TM. Will be very interesting what they come out with though at this price point, as that would be great. However, for me I am one who would wait and see how it performs after testing by independent parties. Seems very promising though!

Wow! Very interesting. I can't wait to see what this is all about!

Look interesting. However it will def need to sit behind the ball like a flightscope or trackman and flightscope could blow it out of the water by releasing club data on the mevo + or releasing a updated unit similar to the Xi tour at a lower price. When setting prices the hardware clearly doesn’t make up a great percentage of the cost hence why the Xi was £2k and the Xi tour (same hardware) £9k

I threw down the $100 and reserved a spot. Got a call 5mins later asking how I got the link (they didnt care ultimately...4th in line!). They did answer a few questions though for me:

          - sets up behind the ball (same as TM and M+)
          - expect it to compete with TM and GCQuad for accuracy
          - screen on unit with customizable # display (like GCQuad)
          - links into tablet, phone, watch, airpods, etc...
          - will likely run off of TGC sim software
          - same space/ballflight requirements as other radar LMs
          - first run of units should be sufficient for demand

The rep I spoke to was definitely in "sales" mode so i'm taking everything with a grain of salt, but im hoping to see lots of sub-$10k options coming out in the new year, so it cant hurt to have my name on a list for one now. The refundable deposit seems like a safe bet in case costs go up, or someone else releases something even better.

When I was looking at the photos of the system, it looks like there may be two units. One in front of you which displays the data with the swing camera and one behind as the launch monitor. Not sure a swing camera from behind is of much value. Also, I wonder if the OLED display will show the data and a video of the swing or if you will need another device for that.

Which photos are you referring to Todd? Unit in front of the hitter?

That's what I was wondering Todd Bondy . But, they must only have one unit at that price. I do know what you're saying, why would you want to flip your head around on a swivel every shot to read those numbers when it sits 8' behind you? My guess is they are expecting you to have an iPad/Computer to duplicate those numbers at your hitting area, or up on the screen. As for the video of the screen though, having down the line only camera would be ok, but not as useful as swing camera in front of you. I guess will all find out tomorrow with their release.

chrisward3 - any chance they told you how far it needs to setup behind the ball and how much distance to the screen for it to give an accurate reading? Did they explain anything about the IR cameras, and the swing camera mentioned or is the camera filming the swing coming from the iPhone/iPad which it links to? Finally any mention on the price for TGC2019 or is that included for that price?

            - Setup distances were similar to TrackMan and mevo+ (7-8ft on either side of the hitter).
            - didn’t ask for specifics in the IR camera
            - the camera on the unit would include their software to review/draw lines/etc. They said ~$100/yr for cloud support and video uploads
            - they referred to TGC as a 3rd party software, so I would expect to purchase that separately. If it’s included in the price, I’d think that’s a pretty sweet deal.

I’ve been told that there will be a press release on Monday. This sounds promising being in line with the Mevo plus pricing yet promising TM/GCQuad accuracy. Time will tell.

It is inline Bubba22 with pricing, but at twice as much - I would really consider it a 'mid-range' offering in a different category than Mevo+/SkyTrack and then TM / GCQuad being the 'higher-range' offerings.

I agree Brettster. It’s still cheaper than GC2 or Uneeekor which I would consider mid range. The point is at $3999 it will be affordable for some of the ST or Mevo plus buyers. They are claiming it to be as accurate as the Quad and TM which are a hell of a lot more pricey than $3999.

I am concerned about accuracy at high swing speeds. Mevo + and Skytrack for example are very serviceable at low to average swing speeds, but once you get into high swing speeds the accuracy drops considerably.

Website says they will be emailing out invites for pre ordering..If they show Tiger using it on the range it will be sold out for a year unless they have some mass production happening.

The guy I spoke to said initial run was going to be 25k (yes, 25000 units). I asked him to repeat himself and that’s what they said. I feel like 2500 might be more accurate.

Wow, 25,000 units, if they really are making that many, the price should drop considerably due to over-supply!

Well, I’m in. Since it’s refundable I got my spot. My room I am building is 17.5” screen to wall. TM4 does great in that but unfortunately Mevo+ doesn’t with ball speeds over 150. I am hoping this will be the one for me!

One thing that will be interesting to check on is how well it does with reading putts, and if it is using that camera in the unit for that, or if there is an overhead IR camera for reading putts. Going to be an interesting press release tomorrow, that's for sure. I hope that have full video of the Launch Monitor, in use - as that would make me feel more comfortable with ordering it pre-release.

That would be my biggest question as well. Short chips and putts. Like the 1-2 yard chips that are often required for sim play that radar units can struggle with at times.

I completely agree. I am sure it will be great outdoors. How it handles the indoor environment will really be the question.

New to the forum. I just got my skytrak a few days ago (ordered one sept 24), but also just put up a deposit on this new sim. Looks very promising. So I may have a used skytrak for sale in a few months lol

I am considering putting a deposit on it. It might be worth it just to get updates honestly.
The things that I really want to know:
What are the "15 data points" reported after every shot?
What Sim integrations will it work with
Does the unit require or run on putting and chipping modes
Does it require a metallic dot on balls?
Will there be any included game play software? What courses etc?

My biggest concerns are how accurate this unit will be in putting and chipping for simulator play. I have no doubt, if they are saying its meant to compete with TM and GCQ it will be accurate for full shots, but Mevo+ has demonstrated that it struggles in this area.

sure would be nice Sixmudd - I don't see anything even on Google??? Bubba22 seems to have all the info, can you ask them Bubba where the press release is, or some kind of video? We're all itching over here to have a look, and why would they want to hide it?

They are going to get a lot more pre-orders if they show us more of the Full Swing Kit - what it can do, how it looks on video (with it running), etc...
