  • No love for Creative Golf 3D?

I'm just getting into Skytrak and doing my research on which simulation plan to go with. Here's where I'm at so far:

    - WGT - it's very affordable, but I've seen lots of comments that the short game is terrible and that it's very glitchy. That would be enough to steer me away from it in spite of the low price tag.

    - Most of the talk is between TGC 2019 and E6 connect. Both look very good and have their pros and cons.

Can anyone share their experience with Creative Golf 3D? I hardly see any reviews about it or comparisons to the other software.
I'm thinking about trying it mainly because of the hardware requirements of all these plans. I just recently bought a new iPad and a new laptop, but neither one of them has the specs recommended for the above mentioned plans. Creative Golf looks like it has a much lower spec for PC requirements, so I should be able to run it on my current laptop.
Yes, I know the cons of this are that the graphics aren't as great, but I don't think that's a big concern to me. I'm more concerned about realistic ball physics and game play. Can anyone comment on that? I've seen reviews where TGC and E6 both have their quirks as far as the ball physics go with certain kinds of shots.

Also, I know that Creative doesn't have the famous courses, but as long as it has a variety, and they are interesting and challenging, I might be OK with that.

Is it a stable company? Have they been making updates and adding new courses? Can you do local multi-player?

If it can save me from having to buy a new $800-1000 laptop, that would pay for about 3 years subscription.

    Thanks for any input.

I love CG3D and highly recommend it. They have been around for a little while and do update the software every now and then. Very recently been upgraded with new features, golf courses and a new annual license subscription module.

I have a few videos on CG3D that might be of interest if you wanted to a take a look https://www.youtube.com/c/GARAGEGOLFTV
I run it on a fairly decent Windows laptop which doesn't have a dedicated GPU, saving me money on a gaming laptop/PC

Thanks! I had already found one of your videos with a search, but I'll check out some of the others. CG3D seems like a nice option without needing a high-end PC. If the physics are realistic, I don't care if I can see every leaf and blade of grass in HD quality.

I have been using CG3D for more than 4 years to my full satisfaction.
The flight model and physics of the ball is very realistic. There are many opportunities for training, play and entertainment, the graphics are quite sufficient for me. The SW is regularly updated (incl. Golf courses). One-time purchase is possible ($ 1000 - incl. 190 golf courses). It is now possible to buy on sale.

If you buy the one time purchase for one of these plans, do you still get future software updates?

Can you play online with another person at the same time? I know you can do online tournaments but that would be more like play when you can but it would not be live 1v1. If you can how do you set this up? I have all 3 software packages mentioned and I find myself using Golfisimo the most when just wanting to have fun or guests are over. You can do local multiplayer and I find it the easiest out of all 3 to have guests login and they can even create their own accounts. The main downfall is the lack of US courses on Cg3d but they are adding more so hopefully that will continue.

If you play with another player online, you only see the common score card, the strokes cannot be seen.

i downloaded the demo version today and played a few holes. Best thing is, installation was easy, and I had no problem running it with the graphics settings set to high. Yes, the graphics look more like something from 10-15 years ago, but I found the game play to be pretty realistic and fun.

Honestly, if the ball physics behave realistically, it could look like an EGA Links game from the 80s and I'd still use it over TGC.

I think I'll play with the demo version a little more, but I'm strongly leaning towards purchasing CG3D. Now the question is, one-time purchase for $595, or annual subscription for $255.
Obviously, if I stick with it for a little over two years, the OTP will have been worth it. But with how quickly this technology is advancing, 2-3 years seems like a long time.

i use TGC19,E6,and CG3d. I have owned CG3d for 2 years now. I love the CG3d and am happy with. I have never played multiplayer locally or online so I cant speak to that. The range is excellent and the data can be saved to your computer if working on swing. Courses are great and most I have never heard of but it is fun to play ones that I have never seen or heard of. Ball physics seem to be good, I would say on the better side of most software options. I did the one time purchase and don't regret. Graphics are not terrible but with some of the other software options out there updating their offerings in 2022 with new and more realistic graphics CG3d could take a back seat. I assume to stay relevant CG3d will have to upgrade as well.

I pulled the trigger on the one-time purchase for CG3D. Played my first 18 holes today and thought it was pretty good. Ball physics were good and the graphics are good enough. I thought the affects of the rough were pretty realistic also. Chipping and putting were a little tough, but that seems to be a common theme among all these simulation games. There were times i had a 12 foot perfectly straight putt and it would miss a foot to the side. Granted, I don't make all of them in real life, but seems like the putter path was exaggeratedly off a few times. Although this might be the Skytrak and not CG3D.

Anyway, I think I'm going to be happy with it. Only got the base course package, but that includes 20 or so courses. Can always change the tees, pins, weather, etc for more variety..

Skytrak is not good for putting accuracy for HLA. I found it to get worse the slower the putt. They would need a straight putting patch like tgc has.

The putting is definitely the skytrak. I use Uneekor and the putts go exactly where I hit them. You're probably just getting wacky off line readings
And just so you know the wind doesn't do anything but blow the trees around. Has no bearing on the ball flight at all, they said they are gonna get that working in the game but not sure when

Is there a way to disable or set number of putts by distance like TGC? Putting is bad with Skytrack.

When you go to start new game, click Game Options, then click the Putting drop-down. You can choose 'Computer inserts number of putts'. Haven't tried that yet, but I assume it's 'auto-putting' based on distance.

The automatic number of putts determines the PC according to the difficulty of the putt (distance, slope, break, etc.). There is also an option in the settings to select the number of putts manually.

I've been using the 'auto-putt' my last few rounds. Saves a lot of time and frustration!

GSF_Admin any chance you could create a sub-folder for Creative Golf 3D discussions? Thanks
