  • Missed shots

This might be more of an issue with the Skytrak, but I'll try under this heading first. Been playing CG3D for a few weeks now, and it's been great, no problems at all. But the last couple days, I've had a lot of missed reads on chip shots. I'll hit the shot, and... nothing. Try it again, and again, and maybe on the 5th or 6th try it will register. Anyone else experience this? Any advice?

Also, normally I use the auto-putting because I find the putting so frustrating, but I was playing a round with standard putting today, and had a real nice round going, until I got to a putt and it would just not read it. I must have tried it 20 times. Turned off/on the Skytrak, same thing. So as a final option, I figure I'll save the game, shut down CG3D and Skytrak, then resume where I left off. When I hit 'resume game', the game is there, but it's grayed out and I can't resume it. All of my other old games, it would let me resume. Any ideas about the putting or about the resuming?
    Thanks

I think it's basically me and you talking to each other here at this point lol. I haven't had any issues other than a few shorter putts not reading and once in a while when I get to the tee it still is on putter from the last hole for some reason and I have to put it back to Tee shot mode to read. Since I changed to lining up the putts myself I have had 30+ putts in most my rounds with a few 28 or 29 mixed in and the scores for sim golf at least have been way more realistic, right around even par or below

Yeah, too bad because as I've said before, the cost of not having to buy a new laptop easily paid for this software, and I think it's pretty good. I see your name on the tournament leader boards... I don't think I can catch you unless I can find about 20 more yards with my driver. And figure out the putting... I've tried to play a couple of the tournaments with regular putting, and I end up quitting in frustration after hitting a nice approach then 3 putting from 10 feet.

Yeah I think that's why there aren't too many entrants in the tournaments that you have to putt out. I think they need another option like TGC where its straight putt forced but you still have to aim the putt to hit the breaks in the green. The one they use now where they line you up automatically makes it easy for me using the uneekor, all I have to do is hit the putt on line and get the speed right which is still a challenge but lining the putt up yourself would make it much harder even f they force the putt to go straight.

At least they're still working on the game so there's hope to add some stuff we could use. Too bad they're not on here

I have Golfisimo only but it still has par 3 courses so close enough. I have the mevo and when it is angled correctly I have almost zero no reads but I do find if it is on fast mode mode you have to hit it a certain speed for it to register. Problem is when it is a downhill putt it can be a bit frustrating. I have heard people mention things like put the ball behind the red dot for short stuff but I don’t own a skytrak so best option is just try things and see if anything helps

I'm going to experiment with a few things to see if it fixes the putting problem... I've read some crazy things, like even something reflective on your shoes might cause a problem.

I played again today and only changed one variable, my shoes. And believe it or not, it did not miss a single shot the entire round, chips or putts. That's probably the first time I've ever had that! Funny thing is, I remember before I bought these shoes (Ecco spikeless) I read a review that said that the reflective area on the tongue interfered with their sim. So I guess they weren't making that up.

That being said, I'm not playing any more tournaments with standard putting until there's some kind of fix for this. I had 37 putts. Granted, I had a couple balls O.B., but it was probably the first sim round I've ever played that I really thought I would have done better in real life. I missed 6 or 7 putts of 3 feet or less. I had a marker at the end of my mat exactly in line with the red dot, and I rolled the putt exactly over it almost every time, but the shot would show I was like +/- 7 degrees offline. So frustrated I was ready to quit, but I finished the round just to see if all the shots would keep registering. Sure seems like the Uneekor is a lot more accurate for putting than Skytrak.

Oh yeah there is no doubt the overhead unit is more accurate. I had skytrak so long ago that I can't even remember the putting but I know it wasn't super accurate. The mat the ball rolls on also makes a big difference. I did a little test even with the uneekor and I had an all turf mat that was thick and the ball would randomly read like 5 degrees offline just because the ball would get down into the fibers and roll offline so I put down a whole putting green turf and cut in a 1x2 strip to hit from and I can putt from the turf. Uneekor having the 18 inch hitting window is another plus. I think it goes offline more on short putts on skytrak... They should keep the gimmies at 5.5 feet IMO
