  • latest update ruins the auto-putt feature

Since putting on Skytrak is so unreliable, I use auto-putting on Creative Golf about 95% of the time I play. But with the latest software update, they updated the auto-putting algorithm, and it's terrible.

I'm not sure how it worked before, but there was an element of randomness to it that made it seem realistic. Now it's just strictly based on distance. Less than 6 feet is a one putt, less than 21 feet is a two putt, and 21 feet or more is a three putt. Every time, with no variability.

First time I played a round with this enabled, I hit 13 greens and shot 80 because I had 6 or 7 three putts. I mean, in a real round of golf, I'd take 21 feet from the pin every time.

CreativeGolf3D -- I'm begging you, please change it back!

I emailed customer support and they're going to look at implementing two options for putting -- one based on x number of putts at a fixed distance, and one that's more random. It's great that they are wiling to listen to customer feedback.

The biggest problem with Skytrak putting is reading the launch angle correctly.
That's why CG3D a few updates back introduced the ability to set the elimination of this angle, so the ball always starts with 0 degrees.
It's then a matter of hitting the right tempo.

I've been playing with that setting for about a year now and it's closest to the number of putts per round I play outdoors.

What setting is that? I'll have to check later.
I always have some 3 foot putts where I completely miss the cup by a lot.

Is that the "Force straight" option under putting?

            Yes ... text from manual
„Item "Force straight…." is designed for children and beginners, the putt will be straightened, the side
angle of the ball path will not be considered."

In the latest update, they now provide a couple different auto-putt options -- fixed based on distance (and they've adjusted the distances for 1/2/3 putts), and more random (how it used to be). That should be good to make everyone happy (it does for me anyway )
