  • Garmin r10 projector setup

Just bought the garmin r10 today. I am going to buy a projector this week but wanted to ask how do you setup the garmin to the projector so i can play the courses on the big screen. Also have a ipad to work with the garmin.

Get an IPad to HDMI adapter and just run an HDMI cable to the projector. Make sure to get lightning or usb-C to match whatever your iPad uses.

Also be advised you can't project in landscape from the R10 so it's going to be taller than it is wide. (so I've read, somebody can correct me if I'm wrong)

MrGeorge as bubbtubbs says - at the moment you cannot project in landscape, but there seems to be a way as I've seen one screenpic showing the app stretched to fit in landscape mode, I think it was on a TV with the 'Stretch' setting turned on, but I'm not sure. All reports are that Garmin is working on this and will hopefully provide an update to allow display in landscape mode.

The other comments are your best for now, an iPad to HDMI adapter works fine and run that HDMI connection out to the projector... maybe you can set your project to 'stretch' the image or 'fill screen' to get a full screen image but it will be distorted.

Also of note: the E6 version included with R10 can be projected (from the PC version) to a landscape full screen, so that's a good thing.

I should have specified that only the Garmin app itself was affected and that the iOS e6 software (same as with Mevo+) has no issue with landscape mode.

It would be great if E6 worked with Android phones.

I agree. We owned no Apple devices at all (hate the OS, dislike the company) so I bought the cheapest refurbished iPad Pro that would run e6 just for the Mevo+ projector.

It's a bit silly, really. Apple has less than 40% global market share outside the US so they're not doing themselves any favours.

Hahhh bubbtubbs - really don't like Apple (the company)? That's your choice, but their products do 'work' exactly as advertised, unlike 99% of other electronic companies.

Brettster I had an original iPhone at launch, loved it. Then a couple years later, the updates started to bloat and the performance suffered. Icons started showing up for things I didn't want and would never use, like Newsstand, but I couldn't move these to a discrete folder elsewhere. I owned the device and I had no intention of letting the company tell me what to do with it after purchase, so I went to Android.

Having owned rooted Android devices nearly the last decade, it's like night and day. The app store isn't aggressively policed and I can install apps from APK - my YouTube app is a hacked version that disables all ad content, for example. I can overclock. I can make the UI not look like a toddler designed it. I can use any launcher I want and delete any nonessential app. The buttons aren't all on the same side as the palm holding the phone. I could go on for a really long time about how I the iPhone has failed to evolve (IMO), but you get the idea.

I feel the same way about them as Foresight - not paying a higher price for comparable hardware and have them dictate how the device can be used.

Anyone projecting E6 from an Ipad can you tell me what model you have and how its work? The Ipad Air 2 I had laying around does fine mirroring HTH but stutters and freezes with E6

**edit** I am currently using an lighting to hdmi cable mirroring was the wrong term.

Anemoi , mirroring is not the way you want to project, it is slow and, and will cause delays. Instead purchase a Lightning->HDMI Adapter and get a long HDMI cable for viewing your iPad screen directly to your projector.

This is the way to go. I use a refurbished iPad Pro 9.7" with a ton of cosmetic blemishes that I bought for about $150 USD and a third-party Lightning-HDMI adapter. No issues with stutter or frame rate.

None so far, walmart recently had a deal on apple tv's for like $90 so I picked one up to see if screen mirroring would be better. I read somewhere that the adapter could be converting the format coming out of the adapter which could be what is causing the stuttering. The Apple TV got delivered today so I will be testing it when I get home. I am not convinced this will actually work but I wanted a streaming device for the projector anyway so I figured this was worth a try. If it doesnt I will probably end up picking up a refurbed ipad pro.

Edit* Well it performed exactly the same airplaying it. I am not surprised but it was worth a shot

I used the ipad air 2 last night with apple hdmi adapter to my projector and it seemed to work OK. I only played two holes and the graphics were OK from my Epson 535w projector. The movement was smooth of graphics, they just did not look as good detail wise as I wanted. This was my initial setup with projector so I am still working out the details, but I had no freezes or chopiness playing hole 1 and 2 of Bandon Dunes

Keep in mind the graphics of the iOS version are significantly reduced in quality from the PC one.

Wow now I am really stumped I have the same ipad and when I hook up the adapter it becomes completely unusable.

Not sure what to tell ya Anemoi. My Ipad air 2 is running OS 14.8 and is Model # MGKL2LL/A. I used the Apple HDMI dongle that plugs into lightning port and a nice monster type HDMI cable 10' long. If you want to talk let me know. I will be cutting this over to laptop most likely when my new work laptop comes in next week
