R10 with kids

I'm fairly new to golf. Got the R10 last week. I'm happy with how it's been working when I use it. I had my 5 year old use it the other day. When he hits half the time it rolls to the net but other half he gets decent hits that would seem to go 10-15 yards. I would say 80% of his hits, even decent ones, don't register.
I tried moving the R10 around which didn't help. I thought maybe has to do with his club head size but when I swing it it would register. The only thing I saw that maybe made a difference was back swing speed. But even that wasn't consistent.
I understand the shots that roll won't register but anyone have any tips and what I can do so his other hits do? TIA

Wonder if the club head speed is matching closely to the ball speed, which is giving the radar some trouble?

So I didn't notice any issues with club head speed at impact. I noticed in his back swing that indicator light would not turn red like it would with mine. When I had him swing a bit faster it would be he would lose control of his swing and miss the ball.

I don’t have a R10, but when I had a Skytrak my 4 year old faced a similar issue. It was simply that the launch angle was either too low for the capture or that the horizontal launch direction was too extreme.

Now he is 5, and hitting much better, plus I also upgraded to a GC2 so playing sim golf with him is more fun as all his shot register.

so all to say, I’m sure as your kid starts hitting a little harder and hitting a little higher in the screen (or net) it will pick them up just fine.

Thanks 👍. Thought that may be the case. I'll just have to not use the R10 until he hits better. He was really excited to try it out but getting frustrated when it wouldn't register.

Actually you should keep at it. Make that the challenge. Give him a 7 iron and see if he can hit it high enough to make it show up on the screen. These little monkeys love a good challenge

Good idea on the 7 iron alexsmith11 ... I'm about to get my R10 going and try it with my 4 year old. Unfortunately I don't have enough sawed-off clubs for him to use yet (just a putter), as he is so short - and he plays at a course that lets him borrow a set of very short clubs. Going to be fun!
