Garmin R10 not registering shots with TGC2019

Really dumfounded. Everyone seems to just download the SimLink app and connect to device and computer and the R10 just works. I followed all the steps but when I hit a ball, nothing shows on the TGC2019. Everything seems to be connected though. R10 pairs with SimLink. TGC2019 pairs with Simlink. Everything looks in order, but when I swing, nothing is registering on screen. Garmin light turns red so its seeing the swing. I also can switch over to the garmin golf app, and watch my shots register in that app, so garmin is working.

Heres what I've done.
I've update TGC2019 to the latest version.
I've also gone into garmin express and updated the latest firmware/software for the R10.
I've tried a different router.
I've turned off windows firewall.

(Funny thing. When I'm at the driving range on TGC2019, it shows ready for shot. If I disconnect simlink from TGC, the message changes to "system not ready". I then reconnect and the message goes back to "ready for shot".) So TGC2019 is seeing the connection from what I can see.

I'm at a loss.

Yeah idk same here. It used to work fine..now it just stays looking to connect tgc

Wow - is this still a problem? I'm wondering because I own Garmin Approach R10 and have TGC2019 for ProTee. I was thinking of possibly switching over - but the thought of losing putting has me miffed. If there are problems with connection? Was it resolved fairly quickly?

Garmin should be exactly 7 feet from ball position. Also, you first must launch Garmin golf app, calibrate the garmin, then go to sim golf at the bottom and select tgc app. That will launch SimLink while keeping Garmin app running on the background. If that doesnt work, Try turning your computer firewall off as it might be blocking TGC. You can turn it back on after you're done playing.

Why exactly 7 feet from ball position?

Did you try the exact same procedure when 6 feet from ball position and it does not work? That is the distance I am at (6 feet), if you are correct and it only works when 7 feet - then I will never be able to play TGC2019 with my Garmin Approach R10?

Try turning your computer firewall off as it might be blocking TGC. You can turn it back on after you're done playing.

I've heard of this for many software applications - and it is very unsafe. I am also a credential Cybersecurity Analyst and know that you just need to find which ports need to be open to allow the Garmin Golf App to communicate with ProTee software and open those on your firewall.

It all depends on your space. I can do either 6 or 7 but I have another 8 feet to the screen. I have it on my garage. You need some ball travel time so the garmin doppler radar algos can capture data on the ball flight. Make sure to always calibrate the Garmin before playing and keep the garmin app running on the background.

It's unsafe if you're on a public network but you're at home so it doesn't matter while you play a round or two, your router firewall is another layer of security. I turn mine off to play and turn it back on when I'm done since I have the same issue. As far as the ports you need to open, do a Wireshark capture and you'll see sourse port as 55660. I'm a network engineer myself

Thanks, that's good to know... So it does work at 6' too (Garmin to Ball) and sounds like as long as I calibrate I'm fine. I know the longer the distance Ball to Screen the better, it helps the R10 get better readings... that's why I'm only at 6' Garmin to Ball, to extend the distance Ball to Screen to 9 feet plus.

Cool, but why would you just not open that one port: 55660 all the time, so you don't have to turn off/on the firewall every time you play?

Ok, so I figured it out. It was a licensing issue. Bought a transfer license from Protee ($92), and now I can switch simulators in the TGC Protee Interface from one launch montitor to another.

Licensing with all this software and hardware gets kinda confusing. I originally had a skytrak unit. Skytrak has its own interface software for TGC. So my initial license of TGC was through Skytrak. Then I purchased the TGC2019 Upgrade through Protee. After talking with Garmin and Protee, I got around to finally buying a transfer license from Protee.

So now I have to use 2 interfaces. The skytrak interface to play with the skytrak. The protee interface to play with the garmin. With the protee interface, I'm able to switch back and forth between launch monitors.

Dizzle71 - that's what I thought about doing myself, so I can switch between R10 and ProTee... One of the reasons is that I'm really, really, really missing putting when I use the R10. I can't stand to be without it to be honest, and I cannot imagine even playing, or wanting to play TGC2019 courses without putting with the Garmin R10, but that must be what you're doing Dizzle71 , and then when you are on the SkyTrak you have putting....

Hard to live without putting... I still have a computer move, and setup/config to get my ProTee LM working (it has the putting mat - which has rollover sensors in it - quite a few). Had to cut a hole in the turf at that spot in front of my hitting mat, but figure I'll move left, or right when I want to putt on another LM and have a good 8'-10' to screen... maybe I'll cut a hole in at that spot right in front of the screen.

As you can see - I really want to practice my short game (putting especially), in my Sim.

Yeah Brettster. I do not use putting on either the Garmin or the skytrak. I'm lucky enough to have the simulator in the office where I work. If I added putting to my rounds, with the extra time it takes, I'd never leave the office.

LMAO Dizzle71 but isn't that the point? (never leaving the simulator)... I guess that's why I built mine 3 feet from my house.
