My initial review with some side by side comparison with es16. This is just a basic review, as I haven't actually had a chance to spend a lot of time with this device. I will follow up in the future. My take so far.
Setup/software
Setup was quite simple, really didn't have any problems installing the application or the software. Directions are quite simple, almost to simple, but it just works. Turn the device on by double tap, open application, wait for it to sync, then hit play. The TGC software that is include is amazing! Most on the forum are familiar with TGC, it speaks for itself. This also presents a little bit of a problem for some people. TGC requires a fairly high end gaming pc and graphics card. This might be an unforseen cost to an entry simulator. I would like to see them incorporate a basic application that can be viewed by a phone or tablet. Would only need to display the basic club data and shot shape.
Accuracy/Price
My first impression was a little disappointing. I'm a left handed player that plays a natural draw. When using the r-motion however, everything went to the left. The more I tried to hook it, the father left it went. I realized the physics were backwards for a left handed player. I contacted support, they said to try the new firmware. This solved my issue. Now I could focus on distance and spin. I agree with the others, the spin for the wedges was an issue. This seems al lot better with 1.2.7. I'm also having an issue with club face. It seems to read most shots with a closed club face. There are several shots that clearly start left of target, but will show 5 degrees closed. I've attached some photos to show clubspeed and distance comparison to the es16. Keep in mind, I have not measured or entered any custom club information into the r-motion app, this data is all with standard club settings. Overall, I think the unit is pretty accurate, and getting better with every update.
The price of r-motion is very reasonable and affordable considering your getting Tgc. I would choose r-motion over any other devices in this price point. The only issue I have with price are the clips. There is simply not enough. If they need to charge more, then do it up front. I think its "tacky" to “nickel and dime " the customer for something that is absolutely necessary to play the game. You cannot play a complete round of golf in tgc with the current clip system.
Overall, I think the r-motion is a fantastic device with a lot of potential!
