  • Rmotion Review Head2Head vs. Optishot

Finally got around to getting some head2head data of the New Rmotion latest Firmware vs. Optishot 2. I have only had my Optishot for 3 months and have not had the best of luck. The yardages are way off so I had to go in setup my clubs and dial them in by percentage to get the numbers that I feel were close to real. I contacted Optishot about this and the said it was my lighting and I needed to tape my clubs etc. I call BS, another problem with the Optishot I have is swing speed they say its within 3 mph I believe lol that is not even close. When I was looking into the getting a sim for my garage my buddy showed me a video from the PGA Golf show in Orlando that really intrigued me and that was the Rmotion. It was not out yet so I settled for the Optishot and wouldn't you know 2 months later I would be one of the "Lucky 10" to get the product for free.

So setup of the Rmotion is very simple, download the programs and install, the 1st drawback to the Rmotion is the need for a newer gaming PC but to run TGC that should be expected. I had a bad Bluetooth dongle out of the box, after several days/weeks and multiple emails a new one was sent free and I was up and running. TGC is amazing cannot wait to start building courses for me and my friends to play, the Optishot software does have decent visuals but nothing compared to TGC. So like everyone else I must comment on the clips situation, they suck! But hopefully the will get this fixed soon, I have been using the putty with no issues. SO FINALLY THE DATA. I ran the optishot on one screen and the rmotion/tgc on my projector the are the same shots, I hit some 8 irons and some PW before the optishot software crashed lol. I used stock club for both software so I didn't use my custom set in Optishot, I wanted this to be out of box numbers to compare them equally.

8 iron software..... clubspeed ....distance .........club face ............swing path
    1st shot rmotion ......70.10 .........148 ................open 2 ...............out to in 1
    .............optishot .....73 ..............128 ...............open 9.6 .............outside/in
    2nd shot rmotion .....71.10 ..........152 ...............open 4 .................straight
    .............optishot .....67 ..............124 ...............open .6 .................straight
    3rd shot rmotion ......73.30 .........152 ................open 8 .................in out 4
    .............optishot..... 72 ..............133 ................open 4 ................straight
    4th shot rmotion ......72.20 ..........151 ...............square ..................in out 3
    .............optishot .....66 ...............121 .................open 1.1 .............straight
    5th shot rmotion ......74.60 ...........159 .................square ................in out 3
.............optishot .....75 ...............138 .................closed .6 .............in to out
    PW
    1st shot rmotion .......70.70 ..........113 .................closed 2 ...............in to out 3
    .............optishot ......64 ................101 ...............closed 1.2 .............straight
    2nd shot rmotion ......70.70 ............111 ................closed 3 ...............in out 6
.............optishot ......57 .................85 ................closed .................1.2 in to out

This is where it crashed I will have more shot coming, but this I think show how off the numbers are.... Optishot is all over the place, rmotion is as consistent as expected with my horrible swing . The rmotion I think gives you good enough data to use as a tool to help you with your swing the optishot will be great when my 2 year wants to play golf on dads simulator! If you have an Optishot I highly recommend the upgrade, or if your looking to get your 1st entry simulator get this! I will get some videos posted and some more shot data soon, I have included the pics of all these shots to see the shot shapes. I think that the when you buy the Rmotion you should get 14 clips moving them in round is not an option... I think selling the product for a higher price with clips included would be the ideal way.

Good review tom...thanks for sharing. I did the same thing a while ago. The numbers for the most part were no where near close to one another. The driver was probably the largest discrepancies.

Solid roll-up and your rec. for upgrading for those who arent ready for the SkyTrak or higher upgrades just yet is spot on. Ironically enough, I will keep the Optishot for the kids too. Thanks for the w/u.
