  • Beta Release 1.2.8

    Hi All,

We are releasing 1.2.8 beta release today. The changes are as follows:
    • Launch angle improvements
    • Solution to wiggling before shot start
    • Smash factor optimizations
    • Lefty face correction
    • Skytrak License problem fixes (Now you can use Skytrak TGC licenses without problems)
This is a beta release, please let us know your comments. If you run into problems, please enable “Diagnostic Mode” and we will see your results and make corrections accordingly.

For existing SkyTrak TGC license holders, please follow the steps below:
    1. Make a back up of your existing TGC license string
    2. Request a free license. The app will receive and install the license.
    3. In Upgrade Tab, copy and paste your original SkyTrak license and you should be set.

You can always go back to 1.2.6 if you are not satisfied with the release. (You cannot go back to 1.2.7, you should first go back to 1.2.6 and upgrade to 1.2.7 if you want to have access to 1.2.7)

Great and I am looking forward to the equipment arrival shortly. With that said, have there been any updates to the clips?

Can you please elaborate on how the clip design this time around is better than the original? Pictures? Also, is the 10 pack still going to be $90? Any way I can get one to test before I drop money on these clips?

There is no change in the clip design. It is identical to the ones that come with the product. What has happened is that we slightly improved it and modified production material to increase robustness again breakdowns.

At the moment no change in pricing.

Lol, ok, then can you please go into a little more detail on how you "modified production material to increase robustness again breakdowns?"

Does this mean the plastic is thicker? Was there any thought to JR clubs. "Putting the clip on the grip" is not an acceptable answer because it will absolutely not fit on the grip. Will JR clips be available at some point?

Ever thought of using a "quick clamping mechanism" instead of the bolt. I would think that with the rubber acting as a seal a clamp wouldn't budge. Maybe also making the rubber pieces swappable so I can put a thicker/thinner piece in for the club types.

The material is less brittle hence the break problem experienced by some of our customers will be rectified.

Rubber is carefully glued to the body so swapping is not an option. For Jr clubs, your best bet is to add some material (paper?) between the club and the shaft.

Rapsodo, I'm left handed, what kind of face correction can I expect?

I am not familiar with the full details. Pls test and let us know. In the mean time I will try to find out.

I played around with the new beta this morning. Two things stood out: the algorithm no longer over rewards topped/very thin shots and the launch angle for my long irons seems more realistic. All shots were captured, no slow downs or flashing lights. I need to actually play a round (as opposed to hitting shots at the range) but so far it also appears the tendency to read the face of my woods as very closed is also gone.

Now I'm just left begging for one more thing: can there please, please, please be a hybrid option? I know tgc sets the clubs, but if you could check a "this is a hybrid" box and use more wood-like algorithm, I'd be so thrilled. I currently customize my 3 iron to my hybrid measurements. But the physics of a hybrid head striking a ball are so different from that of an iron that I can't seem to get realistic response, even with custom loft and length. So many modern golfers play hybrids. It is frustrating to pure a 3h shot and watch it carry 160. I now feel my lob wedge through 5 iron are realistic enough (when accounting for altitude, himidity, etc. differences) that I can select the club in the game I would in the real world. My 4w is better, though still seems to go more left than in the real world (which may be because I struggle to line up the sensor with the fade biased face). I don't use a driver, due to basement height restrictions. But I still struggle to use my 3h and 4h (which I pretend is a 5w).

I understand why it might not be a priority, but it is particularly frustrating to me because I rely on these clubs so much in the real world and want to be able to work on them in the sim as well. Thanks,

This is good news. I haven't had a chance to update to 1.2.8 yet but will this weekend. I agree with you on Hybrids. They are a major part of my IRL game. I use 3 through 6 hybrids and 6 through sw irons.

I tried 1.2.8 just for a few shots last night. So far I think it was a big improvement. At least for a left handed player. Will do more testing and follow up.

Rapsodo I see that clips are now available to purchase on the Rmotion website. Are these the new design?

The design is not new but they are made from new material. They won't break.

Thanks for clarifying Rapsodo. I didn't realize a new clip is still in the works. I received an email today saying a new clip design is being worked on and should be available in a couple of months.

Jb50 we may or may not release a new clip. It is unclear at this time. We believe existing clips after the material change are great and they will do a good job.

What is the general consensus on the 1.2.8 beta update? My distances and smash factor decreased significantly... maybe I should go back to 1.2.7?

I haven't had a lot of practice with 1.2.8 but my distances seemed fine with the little I have used it. I didn't pay much attention to smash factor. I've been more worried about carry distance since smash factor needs ball speed and swing speed to be calculated and Rmotion doesn't measure ball speed. Unless I'm missing something? I know it shows ball speed but I think it's just calculated based on swing speed and maybe clubface. Not sure though.

I am new to the smash factor, but prior to 1.2.8 I was consistently in the 1.4's which is not a big deal. However, as with other golfers, the more you swing the more you hit the ball better. To quote my son, "You smashed that one (reaction to a solid ball strike...felt like I barely touched it), but why did it only go 100 yards?". IRL I normally hit my 7I 165yds and I am consistently below 140 yards after roll-out. Additionally, have you noticed any difference with your chip or flop shots?

        • #12
I'm new to smash factor also. Only know what I've read on the forum and haven't really paid much attention to it with the Rmotion. I haven't done much chipping with 1.2.8. Mainly just hit some irons on the range. Mostly 7 irons and they read very well for me but I still need to do more testing when I get a chance. It's getting pretty hot in my garage these days here in Nevada. So I'm limited when I can hit balls. Usually I can get the swamp cooler going after the sun starts going down and hit for awhile. I'll give more feedback when I play some more. Probably sometime tomorrow evening. I'm playing IRL golf here in about a 1/2 an hour.

Ran into a few more small issues tonight hitting balls on the range... for a baseline I will refer to my 7I again. I am making consistant solid ball contact that is pure but only flying 135 ish at best. this is about 20 yds lower than IRL and when I first started with R-Motion on 1.2.7. Additionally, the smash factor dropped and a few added misreads or "no reads". If anything this tool is improving my swing, by making me swing lol. A few questions:

-How do you delete profiles in TGC and R-Motion? My son added a few new guys each time he played and adjusted their club settings.
-How do you uninstall 1.2.8? I wouldn't mind going back to 1.2.7 and I know I have to revert back to 1.2.6 prior to going back.

            Thanks for the help!

Refer to the first post in this thread. I don't believe you do an uninstall. You just install 1.2.6 then you install 1.2.7.
