Does type of ball used affect results?

I'm currently using a foam ball without too many issues, but am wondering how the ball type affects the results in TGC.

If the game reads the impact of hitting a foam ball, does it matter if it's a foam ball, almost golf ball, or an actual ball?

Almost golf balls and regular balls should work fine. The foam balls are not preferred.

I'm aware that you've written that it's not ideal in this forum - I guess my question is "what's the tradeoff for using foam balls?" Do certain club types perform lesser as a result?

Hey ZHankers, I think it is a good question. I have tried all three kinds and use/prefer the "Almost Golf Ball" as it feels close to a real one (feedback off the face) but isn't crazy loud like a real golf ball. The Almost and a real golf balls read quite well with the R-Motion if not 99% of the time and I have not seen a substaintial difference between the two, really its preference. However, the foam balls do produce misreads and given the low proce point of the almost golf balls I would spend an extra $10 for the "almost". The foam balls are very inconsistent since the senor only reads when it senses a "hit" on the club face. On a side note I really enjoy the unit and use it for both practice and playing in TGC. Really appreciate your taking the time to help answer this question, Tater. Unfortunately it's either foam or AlmostGolf for me at the moment, so it looks like I'm going to be rolling with the AG balls for now.

I received my unit last weekend and it's been a fun system so far, and I've had pretty good luck with the foam balls, outside of a couple minor nagging issues (like drives carrying 60 yards shorter than they do IRL), so I'm hoping switching to the AG ball will help correct that.
