  • understanding club data

I believe to Rmotion is giving me some pretty good data but I'm wondering if some could help me understand what it all means:

Swing Path - I understand what it means but what is ideal. For instance, it may show out-to-in 3 degrees. Is this good, bad? what's ideal?
Club face - Pretty sure I'm shooting for square here
Deviation - I don't know what this is or what I'm looking for?
Face Relative to Path - Again, not sure what this is and what I'm looking for?

Any help for me to understand these would be appreciated

Swing path, if you want to play a baby draw is slightly in to out. A fade is out to in (but a draw or fade also requires the correct club face angle)
Club face is just the angle your club face is relative to your target line on impact
I assume the deviation is where you have hit the ball on the club face, i.e. centre, left or right of centre (I stand to be corrected)
Face relative to path is basically the difference between your swing path and club face angle. (this is what would determine how much of a draw, fade, block, pull or straight shot you have played)

if you have an out to in swing by 3 degrees you probably want your face to be closed 1 - 1.5 degrees so that your ball will start left of the target and fade back in. the bigger the difference between face and path, the bigger the curve. In general I've heard that you want about a 2:1 path to face ratio to get the ball back onto the target line but it also depends on what club you are using and your angle of attack.

Thanks guys. Been playing with it a bit doing different swings. Seems for me that I hit the ball best when I have an in to out 3 degree swing. Small sample size. I've been having a lot. And I mean a lot of trouble with the pull hook so I'm trying to figure that out. Not sure where it came from cause I never had that problem before but it's been going on for awhile now.

Jb50 I am having similar issues and previously had an out/in swing with slight closed face which resulted in a fade/slice ball flight. However, this season I have focused on swing path a bit and I too now have the slight hook/draw ball flight. At times more severe than other times, but I think that is due to the slight pause before you start your backswing with the R-Motion. I really see the hook when the ball immediately starts right (lefty) as that means my face was most likely a bit open at initial address and that slight pause before my backswing began. You are not alone brother!
