  • Green light but no detection

    Hello,

I've had an R-motion for about 10 days. Until tonight it was working OK on one of my machines (tho' not on the better one!). Now I have a green light but no results in the game. In the R-Motion app, all seems normal and working, but nothing happens in TGC. I sent an email to support, but any advice/help here would be appreciated.

Have you looked at this ?

Blue LED indicates the sensor is ready and waiting for the command to go from TGC game. But it looks the communication is broken between the game and the APP.

Can you make sure the following?

    1. Open Task manager and make sure you have only one instance of server.exe running in your computer. If you see multiple instances, close both the APP and the game and start again.
    2. Do not open the TGC game from the TGC Dashboard, Allways open the game from the APP.

    Hope this fix your issue.

That is something Rapsodo posted a while ago.

Did you try a reset or maybe go back to an earlier version.

For me it helps to unplug the dongle and plug in again + wait 30 sec. geo

        Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions. I appear to have fixed it. I'm not sure exactly what combination of things worked, but here are some things that happened. I thought I'd post them in case they help someone else.
        1. Completed a Windows update (likely unrelated).
        2. Did a clean install of the software for R-Motion and TGC. This did not work by itself.
        3. Deleted my Steam version of TGC on both machines.
        4. Disconnected one of the computers from my network and shut it down.
        5. Tried to remove as many physical obstacles and sources of interference as possible.
        6. Repositioned the machine I'm now using so as to be closer to the hitting area (about 6 feet vs. 8 feet).
Nos. 3 and 4 are what seemed to do the trick, but that could have been coincidence. No. 6 simply improved connectivity.

It would appear that the dongle cannot be moved between machines in close proximity, or perhaps on the same network. Don't know if that's true, or just a coincidence. Or, can it be used on multiple machines at all? In any case, it seems that if if I can get it to work on one, it will not connect on the other.

I'd also note something said in other posts: cold seems to harm it. I had the problems above after moving it out of my poorly heated garage, where I had been using it. There, it seemed like the colder it got, the worse it worked.

So a further update for anyone reading this in the future seeking info: It stopped working again. So back to the drawing board.

OK, one last thing ... important safety tip: make sure you have the proper handedness selected in TGC. I moved the system back to my garage, and it was not working. Ran it in diagnostic and got one-yard swings. Noticed that the path was the opposite direction. Hmm .. Changed the handedness and it worked. I had been trying to set up a player for my wife, who plays left-handed, and I apparently changed it for my player, on that machine (of the two I've been trying it on). It still won't work in my office. I think the problem there is interference, but I've removed every source I can think of and I still can't get a constant connection. Sometimes I get one swing in and it quits. Other times several holes. Sometimes nothing.

I do have question for anyone who has slogged through to this point: Does anyone know the effective range of the sensor from the dongle? I realize that it's Bluetooth, so it's limited, but mine seems to cut out after about 8 feet or so. Is that normal? Sometimes I have to put it right next to the dongle to get a connection, then I can go a little farther away to swing. This seems particularly true in the cold.

We have had issues with sensors that are unable to be found by the computer / dongle. We've also had sensors that lose their charge instantly after removing it from the power outlet. We're unsure what causes the sensor to fail. It must be the range of the bluetooth, or perhaps some sort of software issue with windows 10. So far we're going on to our fifth sensor in eight months.

Update: the reason the sensor was constantly dying was due to the USB port operating at a higher amperage than reccomended. No problems at all anymore.

With respect to the dongle not being recognized etc, an update released in the latter part of 2019 has seemingly solved all software issues we once previously faced on our Windows 10 PC.
