  • R Motion Review

Firstly, thanks to Rapsodo for the time and patience with me. I was one of the Lucky 10 to receive the R Motion and when I got it I only had a used driving range mat from a local course. Finally got my Dell laptop and loaded the software and it barely worked properly. Then summer time came and real life golf took my time. Recently I called Dell and spend several hours on the phone with them and my laptop didn't have the latest version of Windows. The kind lady installed it and it is working like a charm!!!!

Since cold man winter has come along I have played with R Motion about 4 times now. Quickly my setup is: Dell Inspiron I5 or I7 Processor (I think I5), used range mat, 40 inch Phillips LCD TV and a makeshift hitting net (pvc pipes with a king bed sheet attached). I know it sounds a bit shady but it is setup in my bonus room with slope walls (hope to attach a picture).

R Motion has been a really cool product. I originally was going to go the optishot route but heard so much about lighting and taping clubs. Didn't really want to do that. The graphics with TGC are top notch even on the television screen via HDMI. I have the old clips and have those attached to my 52 wedge, 7 iron, 3 wood and putter. I don't really move them so they have held up well. I like the fact that I can hit foam golf balls. I could find almost golf balls but found some decent firm indoor balls. They seem to work well. Hit the shots and getting ball flight information is cool.

Here are some things that concern me about the product. The position of the clips. Ball flight is basically determined by how the clips are positioned. Too far right I think it will hook and show an inside to outside swing. Too far left the opposite. I could have this backwards. Currently my real life ball flight has been left to right (fade - right hand golfer). Use to be a hooker but that has changed. I'm not sure how far the clips should be up on the club and what the "neutral" position should be. Also my distances are off. 3 wood is carrying 200 yards. I don't claim t ok be a long hitter but I am not short. I did rupture my right Achilles back in June 2016 and my distance did drop (and the fade showed up) but I can now carry 3 wood 225 - 230. Not sure if it is due to the foam balls. No big deal until I play the Pinehurst #2 course. That course is a BEAST. LOL. I can also see where the 15 courses could eventually be a problem as one may get tired of the same courses over time. $499 for full access is a bit steep.

For the price of this product it is definitely a winner!! Basically plug and play if you already have accessories. I will be buying the 10 additional clips so I can use all my clubs and may possibly see if I can get the slopes taken out of my bonus room. That will be costly though. Another thing I really like about R Motion is how quickly Rhapsody will help out/support. Although I was playing the R Motion I did look at this site and other folks thoughts and problems and Rhapsody was Johnny on the spot all the time. That is freaking huge!!! I am going to post a picture of my setup. No laughing.

Hope this review helps anyone on the fence about the product. It is solid!!

My apologies Rapsodo, I just noticed my phone auto corrected my spelling of your name to Rhapsody. My bad.
