  • R-motion target line

    Hey all

I have a question around alignment. One of the reasons I'm looking at purchasing this is so I can work on my shot shaping (along with the Skytrak). Now for most shots I'd be wanting to start the ball out wide and bring it back onto the target line. My understanding is the R-motion device picks up the target line based on the resting face angle of the club before you swing, meaning the target line and face angle are the same.

While I understand why this is, your face angle, target line, and path are not the same when shaping shots. Has anyone found the way r-motion determines target line has hampered their practice based on the information they are getting from the device when working on this?

    Thanks

The target line is set manually in TGC. The sensor placement in relationship to a square club face and how you set your club face at address will determine shot shape as it would IRL.

I ran into the same issue and with R-Motion began to have a strong draw/almost hook unless I clearly pushed out with hands open. So I went to the course and setup with this strong draw shot shape... not the case IRL. So I simply set the clips a bit open and my sim play is very close to IRL. I want to play R-Motion as close to IRL as possible, but also remember you have the control on a few things.

afmilboy02: By "set the clips a bit open", do you mean turned to the right? I'm still trying to figure out where precisely the clips should be set. I'm not sure what's supposed to lined up with what for the clips to be in a "neutral" position. For instance, is it the leading edge of the clip and the leading edge of the club face? Center (the light) to center? Or what? Or is it even that precise?

Not that it really matters that much for my swing.
